I love that Nino doesn't seem to know whether the technique is "legal" or not - just knows that it works and it's Jiu-Jitsu. Love it!

yeah, good sign. He don't care about competing, even though he's a legend

Word. I'm sure the same was true with guys like Carlos and Helio. Well, aside from the classic vale tudo and challenge matches they did. But those are really more like MMA. :)

exactly! jake's talk about "rules" is depressing

With all the buggy chokes happening it made me think of Nino’s bottom side control offense.

Pure gold. I already do most of this stuff but watching a pro explain the finnesse is much more efficient than discover and inventing everything again

i gotta remember the hooks and the grips.....these videos are so awesome, its like a private class online. i think going to different gyms and rolling with the best is awesome, thanks for filming it and putting it online. By the way, Jake seems to be getting better! I'm sure his experience rolling with all these top level guys have something to do with it lol, thanks again.

I love these derogatory comments about Jake's grappling. Yes he clearly isn't a natural athlete - you only have to watch him walk across the parking lot to see that - but he isn't claiming to be. Have the guys commenting ever seen video of themselves grappling or doing anything? They might be little shocked if they do. I can only imagine how bad I look when trying to figure out the movements for a new technique. I think Jake's whole schtick is that BJJ is the everyman ( and woman ) sport, and with the right spirit of generosity any two practitioners can roll and get something out of it.

I totally agree with you. People just love putting someone down without realizing that they themselves couldn't do any better. I love these videos because I am a white belt, and these videos really break down the techniques so that even a layman like me can understand and (attempt to) implement the techniques at my BJJ class.

the only thing i don't like about the 2nd option where your hand runs across your opponents face for the kimura is the potential arm triangle he could put you in.

sounds great, ill try it on the more experienced fighters at my gym then :) ive been training no gi jiu jitsu for a little over a year, so far it's only been small tournaments here in Denmark where i live. i was considering investing in a gi and start my way towards a blue belt :) thanks for the respons and good luck in the future.

I have been playing a similar bottom scarf hold for years... but without holding the head (just the arm) this hold seems ridiculous.. they can just kick their leg out to get rid of the hook and then take the back.. am I missing something? Otherwise I was excited about this position

is there anyway to defend an armbar from the first position, i relize when i do it people just do a regular headlock escape to armbar

Great great video. One question though: He said you have to avoid the situation at 4:55 and I didn`t get the reason. It seemed like a good reversal to me. Why was that? Did he mean the guy on top had to avoid it?
