This video shows us using a Rock & Roller stamp to stamp a concrete patio slab.
This is the first time Luke and I have had a chance to use the Rock & Roller from Marshalltown. It's an Ashlar Slate pattern roller stamp.
The patio slab is 24' x 21'. We're using colored concrete with a tinted liquid release.
We had to make sure we started using the roller stamp early enough so the concrete was still quite soft but not soft enough to sink it.
The video shows this process very good. We timed the starting process just right.

should have backed your concrete truck in where the half ton is parked. run your bull float perpendicular to your screed pulls. Do longer pulls with your screed board. Spin your roller so the pattern is not the same as the previous pass. you finished rolling where you started placing, thats why its so hard at the end. should have started near the deck. might get better contrast with the powder release than the liquid but it is a lot messier. job looks good.

That looked like a really good mix. The last 2 trucks I got were absolutely horrendous. It was supposed to be a 5 inch slump and right out of the truck even adding water, it took 10+ passes with the bull float before it would close everything up…..there was so much rock in it it was absolutely horrendous. And that was 20 seconds after getting it out of the truck.

I bought the seamless texture last year, I was a little bit intimidated for us to buy our first one and have it have to be kept straight like with cobblestone or asler so we started with seamless as it obviously does not matter, we used it on a couple patios, it’s only 24” but can cover some ground, like you said it is 110% all about timing but if you are good at what you do like you guys are and take your time, there really shouldn’t be any reason why you can’t keep it straight, gonna buy another pattern this year, total time saver, it looks great, good job as always mike👍

I own a few of them but i only use the on sidewalk jobs or doing borders. I don't really care for the solid line it leaves at 3' wide but it definitely takes skill to do it like you guys did.

I'm glad you tried that thing. I've been paranoid to try one out. I doubt I could get the seams any better at the roller ends. I don't think a person could get the seams fixed up to where they could blend with a touch up wheel. Not me anyway.

No retardant here. You can ask for some if you want to, low dose or regular dose, they put it in when they batch the load.

Mike, I'm a concrete business owner out of Ohio . I was learnt to do stamping with the powder release . I'm interested in how it's made or what the liquid release is . Seems to be a lot less of a mess. Teach an old dog new tricks eh ? Lol Are you literally adding the tint to a mineral spirits ? And just mixing with a drill or something
@MikeDayConcrete
@MikeDayConcrete Жыл бұрын
Yes, we add about a cup or two of powder release into a 2.5 gallon sprayer of liquid release. Just shake it, and keep shaking it as you use it. Works great for us as you can see. Very little mess and washing the next day is a breeze.
