I think you’re absolutely correct about UTG ranges not being that tight in the lower to mid stakes games. I’ve found that Hold Em you only get playable hands a small % of the time so recreational players playing these low stakes games don’t care or even think different because they’re under the gun and they get KT off especially if that’s one of the best hands they’ve seen. In the bigger/better games that absolutely changes though.

@nich36836 жыл бұрын
11:29 i love the pocket tens jam on the flop. Classic bad recreational villain behavior. [Southern Accent]: "Alright now I'll just and see a flop with my tens, in case a high card comes out. But if it's a low board I'll jam all-in for 7 times my opponent's bet." Sound strategy. I was actually in this exact situation before, 3-way all-in, where I and another guy both hand 7-8 for flopped top two, and the third guy had 3-bet jammed the flop wth pocket tens. The turn and river went Q-Q so me and the other 7-8 got counterfeited. Classic.

Great vlog as always Andrew - really enjoy the honesty and analysis. One suggestion if you don’t mind - it would be great if you let us know what the relevant stack sizes are earlier in the hand which factors into bet sizing - you do let us know frequently once it gets to river or all-in, but it would be great to know earlier just to help analyze the hand better. Thanks a lot, and good luck!!!

I really like the small bet on the flop with 97cc, but I think you can size it up a bit in my opinion to maybe 40% pot (60ish). I really like the idea to continue semi-bluffing in this hand despite picking up a pair on the turn, and your sizing is consistent, I think the plan should be to almost always barrel the river here though. You have an immense range advantage and you want to be getting 3 streets of value with holdings AQ KK+ AK, and thus you should be barreling with flush draws / fd + pair to balance that out. I was thinking you should've bet close to PSB on the river so that you can polarize your range between missed FDs and monsters. That way you get payed off to the max when you get called and have it, and you'll likely get a large percentage of weak aces to fold when you're bluffing.
@AndrewNeeme6 жыл бұрын
Agree with pretty much everything. Think flop size is mostly fine, and think river size should be a slight overbet.
@chrispythegull6 жыл бұрын
I am inclined to agree with you if this occurred in a vacuum, but we have to consider Andrew's action here and how it's being perceived as well. He's raised pre and he's bet the flop, and villain is still hanging around. Semi bluffing the turn here with no blockers to anything (except middling clubs, which is what we WANT villain to have) is just never going to achieve what a semi-bluff is designed to achieve, which is to get better to fold. Also, do you really want to be check/jammed off your equity on the turn? It's true we have a range advantage, but how does our range advantage look after opponent's line? Not nearly as impressive. i say take the free river card and try to realize our equity against what is clearly an Ace of better from villain.

My only 2-5 NL experience was at one of your MUGs, and I had the feeling I was maybe the second-worst player at the table and was glad to get away with a tiny profit. It's somehow a comfort to know that typical 2-5 play is about the same it is at the 3-100 spread limit at my local cardroom. Just with larger stacks. I'd be able to get to your next MUG if my original travel plans to Vegas didn't change, but I'll unfortunately be out a week later instead.

Glad the coaster ended up...favorable! Re ATo 3-bet...a little too weak/vulnerable in 2/5 cash where you’re more likely to lose big pots or win small ones. I feel like so few live villains are capable of 4 bet bluffing from under the gun that a 4 bet is so heavily weighted to QQ+ that is is probably arguable you can make an exploitable fold with JJ if you do get raised. Even AK off is probably a call instead of a 4 bet for most rec players.
@AndrewNeeme6 жыл бұрын
You’re probably right.
@shanebeckim54446 жыл бұрын
The call w AT on the T85 board is a tough one considering you had no clubs. The jam indicated either a made weak hand of two pairs or a really good draw. You don’t usually see a jam of 2.5x the pot on a weak draw when a call still leaves them fold equity. In either case, you’re not favored and 560 to win1,000 isn’t great equity. His range could have include J9c, 79c, 67c, T8 suited, 88, or 55.
@AndrewNeeme6 жыл бұрын
I’m not favored but with the dead money in the middle it’s pretty neutral ev at worst I would think. Blocking top set/top two, and blocking no draws, just seems like his hand is gonna be face up here a lot. It’s a pretty standard jam size with a hand like his I think. If you hate variance then I guess fold is fine.
@shanebeckim54446 жыл бұрын
Andrew Neeme I guess a lot of it would depend on his behavior. If he’s a loose player it’s a good call. But if he’s been playing straight up, you have some gold fold equity there.
@shanebeckim54446 жыл бұрын
Andrew Neeme The only other point to consider is if he would be jamming with a worse hand than a two way draw. He’s not jamming with KT or worse. So the best you might hope for is an open ended straight draw only which tilts the odds in your favor significantly. You can narrow his range significantly once he jams and his particular holding here is right near the middle of that range now. However, with your instincts on player behavior, I trust your decision was appropriate.
@Chris-dt8ru6 жыл бұрын
Shouldn't feel about about your boat on the turn. He let you get there by betting for value. If he had thought of the entire hand from the start he could have put you on a chop situation or a nut flush draw or something and needed to get it in early to make it harder for you to continue. I think you made a great choice calling the flop bet.

@AndrewNeeme6 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Which hand would you have not cbet?
@Heyitsmax856 жыл бұрын
i dont recall which hand but as an example, if you open A10s utg and get 3 callers like mp co and BB, flop is 1096 fd i wouldnt cbet into 3 players. CO range for flatting utg raise is generally quite strong and equites are very close on this texture. I personally find live players cbet way to much oop. If you study HS online players most oop cbet strat is like 30% approx, and much smaller sizes. Live is different because players are much weaker, however there is merit to understanding why and when you should be cbetting. gl and may run into you at wsop!
@AndrewNeeme6 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. What about ATo in 3b pot in position on T85ccx vs two players?
@Heyitsmax856 жыл бұрын
for that example i would be betting around 1/3 pot, we need protection and dont want to give away free equity vs overcards. I have noticed though, and as you said in your vids you squeeze alot of off suit broadways. I dont think this is very profitable. I would recommend using suited combos mainly because they are much more playable postflop and also because if you include off suit combos in your range it will increase the amount of bluffs you have tremendously, and you have no way to balance that. Unless, ofcourse your only do it with particular combos, but i doubt thats the case.

On the ATo hand, the odds depend a lot on the villain's range. We need about 36% equity, and some of the hands the villain can have are crushing us (sets, two pair, big combo draws, JJ) and others that are close in equity or slightly beating us. In order for this to be okay, I think the villain has to be playing Ac2c-Ac5c and some tens this way (JxTx? QxTX? 9xTx?). I think that's true for some villains, but not others. And even when our opponent is loose, we're still only slightly profitable. It's an interesting hand, and I think you're correct to think about blockers. I'd also spend some time thinking about the opponent and your reads at this point, because this decision is pretty close by my calculation.

@NKKK196 жыл бұрын
Great session. Can you explain the river sizing of $275 into $345 with QJdd on KThh79ss6h? I tend to size a little smaller like $180 in these spots when the flush gets there (plus a backdoor straight) because it’s tough to get called by 2p/sets vs tight opponents if we have a tight image ourselves PLUS we can bet/fold cheaper to a possible c/r.
@PapaCharlie96 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was kind of surprised by the large sizing of the value bet too. The river heart kills a lot of action. I'd bet even less, like $100 there. Would do the same with the nut flush.
@AndrewNeeme6 жыл бұрын
Smaller makes sense too. I think a lot of his hands like KQ KJ or backdoor spades will fold to any bet, so I tried to get more from a straight and polarized somewhat for when I have backdoor spades myself. (Even though I might check AJss AQss on the flop at least sometimes.)
