When it comes to flying tipplers, the whole reason for indavidual boxes is so thst each bird can be fed according to their needs. If one bird is showing signs of fatigue then that birdcwould be fed a bit more cearal grains to help it kerp up as its energy requirement is more .
@RedEyeLoftАй бұрын
@@ninob9425 True, I will soon find out when I fly individual boxes. I can't wait.

My friend, great subject. Birds at rest only need a protein level of 11 to 13 percent. Birds that are breeding and rearing ybs need a protein level of 17 to 18 percent for proper young bird development. Also, cereal grains are required for good carbs ,and legumes like beans znd peS are the protein builders.

As a tippler flyer, I've found that barley is the most underrated grains when it comes to control. Unless my birds are breeding they will always have barley in any mix I give them. It's the number one grain to control them. Especially young birds who have so much energy they need to be brought down on a low diet grain, or else they'll take up in a second and never come back. If you can, get your birds to perform time on straight barley and eventually wheat added. By the time they get to feed up, they will be ready to really perform. A good rule of thumb for newer tippler fanciers is one teaspoon per bird when feeding community. Some may get more, some less, but I promise you they're wont be any left. If so, cut back a few. Remember, birds learn through their stomach. Any overfeeding and they'll forget everything you taught them. I also don't feed my birds corn. I made that decision years ago, and I've stuck to it. I was told that the ends of the corn can scratch the birds throat and cause canker. Maybe hogwash, but that combined with them getting heavy on it causes me to stay away from it. I'm in Central Georgia, so I stick to the smaller grains all year round. Pigeon pellets are also a good grain to increase the protein level for breeders.

@pigeonpete4193 I'm sorry for the oversight. Yes, I do. At the moment, I do not feed each bird by grams. When I start flying from individual boxes, then I will measure the grain.

Ok, i see that tere is some facts that we need to expand on, so if i may, Peeas and beans, lentils, peanuts and others belong to the legum family, whitch are fed for protein, and do very little in terms of maintaing flight, by contrast, cerial grains like corn, wheat, rice, barley, milo, kafir corn, and others are primarliy made up of Carbs, and these are the grains that produce simple sugars ( glucose ) and they are the grains that keep the pigeons flying !! Also, examples of grains high in fats are as well as porotein are peanuts, safflower, sunflower canola and others. The other thing one should know about sugars ( fatty acids) is that in birds, studies have shown that about 47% of the fat produced for use in the body is produced in the liver,and 44% in their carcass, 7% in the skin and a small amount in the intestine. So now you can see the importance of fedding the right foods when taining or before a competion. Lets just look at these Points of Interest shall we, Point #1 high levels of fat in the diet of biords will Decrease the amount of fat produced by the liver. Point #2, high levels of protein in the diet of birds will Decrease the amount of fat produced by the liver, Point #3 high levels of carbohydrates in the diet of birds will Invrease the amount fat procuced by the liver. So, now that you understand just how things work when feeding your stock or your kit birds in treaining, or in preperation of competitions, you will choose the correct feed mix to share with your stock. Train your birds on a mix of 60% barley, 20%wheat, 20% milo, this will keep them light and strong as they progress. They should fly when in shape at least 8-9 hiurs on this training feed. When in shape they should feel like an empty breer can when in had, strong but light and ready for s sound feed up in front of competitions.

@ninob9425 Hey, buddy, I really enjoyed reading your explanation of the feed. I knew some things about the liver being a very important part of the birds health and performance. This is what I like when folks like you participate in good fundamental explanations. We can all learn together and have a better understanding. Thank you!
