Rollin' Rascal is going to be GREAT

I'm not really back.
I had the opportunity to try out the demo for the upcoming Rollin' Rascal, a high-speed momentum-based platformer being developed by Curiomatic. It's shaping up to be an incredible addition to the growing list of Sonic-inspired 3D indie platformers and is well worth your time.

My perfect Somic game has always been a mix Between the adventure gameplays Levels and Physics and the boost games sense of speed and reaction So IM SUPER EXITED for this.

1:44 it's funny, that's my only complaint about the character design. Rascal looks cool, I just have no idea what he IS. A robot?... An alien?... An anthropomorphic tire? Somehow that last one feels the most likely.

this game has a lot of passion oozing at the seems just from playing the Demo, I've had my eyes on this game since Project Rascal, and after playing this newest demo for this title, my interest has peaked, sadly it'll be a few years before we see this game, but it'll be well worth it if they keep the quality shown so far

Definitely feel you on getting turned around during first playthroughs... it makes me a bit cautious for this game. Falling off of tall platforms is also a bummer, as you have to flounder around looking for a way to get back up. I would have preferred they just respawn you somewhere when you hit the water, honestly. I think with really, really good level design all of this could be mitigated, but it's definitely a tough problem to tackle.

Very accurate review! I hope they’ll find ways to improve the orientation-problem and give some better use-cases for the override mechanic. I also think the game would benefit from a „tech“-mechanic to regain your momentum after getting hit, because coming to a complete halt in a game like this hurts. Overall though, the demo was incredibly fun. I‘m definitely supporting the Kickstarter.

Rollin' Rascal is basically Sonic Utopia, but instead of being a mediocre project that never came to fruition, it is a full-fledged game with a strong sense of identity.

I bought the kickstarter! Only issue: controls at high speed are way too stiff and I wish they had a dedicated spindash button that you can charge. I hate mashing for spindash and it sucks that if you hold charge it charges way too slow compared to mashing.

Game looks great but I could tell within seconds even before you said anything that the hijacking mechanic looks like a bad fit for this game. Hopefully there's not too much of it in the game

I think this game does look great. The only problem I have is with the character design. Rascal looks dumb. What even is his hair situation? Is he bald or not? His ponytail looks like a rubber magnet stuck to the back of his head. If he lets down his ponytail does he have a skullet? That's disgusting!
