I loved the Pig! Does anyone remember Storybook Land? We used to pass it, back when the Shirley Highway was being laid, on our way "home" , as our Ma used to call Alabama. When I grew up, I finally took our firstborn, when he was 1, in 1981. I'm so glad I did, because it was then gone. It was on Richmond Hwy (Rt 1) I had an uncle, aunt, and 2 cousins at Belvoir, in the late 50-early 60s.

Wow, how neat to see what's going on with the area I was born and raising in. It's changed so much since I left back in the late 80's...I've been there since, but hardly knew my way around there. My sister said, get on Fairfax County Parkway and I was like what. What is that, I'll get lost and tell me how to get to Richmond Hwy., or Route 1 (same thing). And I'm the first one to post something on here. Way to cool !!!

I love Richmond Highway street in Alexandria, Virginia. Fairfax County government needs to build more homeless shelters on Richmond Highway. If Eleanor Kennedy homeless shelter on Richmond Highway don't take me in. If a Eleanor Kennedy employee tells me i gotta go to the homeless shelter in Falls Church, Virginia. I'm gonna tell Eleanor Kennedy employee to send me a email to let me know when i can come to Eleanor Kennedy. I don't wanna be at a homeless shelter in Falls Church because i wanna live in Richmond Highway area. It's gonna be hard for me to get to Eleanor Kennedy without a car if i'm in homeless shelter in Falls Church. I hope a Eleanor Kennedy employee will come pick me up in a car in Falls Church if Eleanor Kennedy decides to take me in their homeless shelter. I hope government housing puts me in a apartment without me having to get a job. I don't think white people are gonna give me a job because of my jobs resume. I can pay apartment rent with money i get from social services. I don't wanna be at Eleanor Kennedy a long time. Homeless black people who can't get in Eleanor Kennedy is why there needs to be homeless shelters on Richmond Highway. Government housing needs to put homeless black people on Richmond Highway in apartments if the government isn't gonna build homeless shelters on Richmond Highway. Homeless black people on Richmond Highway aren't getting jobs with lots of money. I like Pizza Hut on Richmond Highway that's close to Shoppers Food Warehouse store on Fordson street. I like Walmart on Richmond Highway that's next door to Costco's food warehouse. I miss Shakey's Pizza restaurant that closed on Richmond Highway. Shakey's Pizza had a all you can eat buffet that had pizza, spaghetti, chicken, garlic bread. I lived in Beacon Hill apartments in 1987-1990 behind Beacon Hill shopping center on Richmond Highway. I like Applebee's restaurant that's close to Krispy Kreme donuts. I stayed at Virginia Lodge motel on Richmond Highway at 1:07. I like Holiday Inn hotel at 1:07. I wish Gerry Hyland government building on Richmond Highway would've kept the homeless shelter open. I stayed at homeless shelter in Gerry Hyland building from January 2021-April 2021. I liked walking to Sunoco gas station, BP gas station, Little Caesar's pizza, 7 11 food and drinks store that's close to Gerry Hyland building when i was at the homeless shelter. Homeless shelter in Gerry Hyland building should've stayed open. There's too many homeless black people on Richmond Highway. My only problem with staying at Gerry Hyland building was using the bathroom at night. I had to wait for men to come out the bathroom so i can use the bathroom. The bathrooms on the other floors in Gerry Hyland building had the doors locked at night. That didn't make sense for the bathrooms on the other floors to be locked at night. I did like the food i was served for breakfast and dinner at the homeless shelter. I also liked watching television in the food cafeteria room at the homeless shelter. Eleanor Kennedy homeless shelter on Richmond Highway is too far away from a lot of businesses on Richmond Highway. I'm gonna have to get help from a social worker at Eleanor Kennedy about getting me a job and a apartment. I'm not trying to be at Eleanor Kennedy a long time. I also don't like social services office in Gerry Hyland building telling me i can't get money for 9 months because i'm a new Virginia resident. I can't survive for 9 months at a homeless shelter with no money. Social services need to change their stupid rules for not giving money to poor black people for 9 months who are new Virginia residents. Richmond Highway should've never torn down movie theater where Costco's grocery store warehouse is at 0:54. I wanna live in Belle View apartments that's close to Belle View shopping center on Fort Hunt street. I saw at government housing office in Gerry Hyland building on Richmond Highway that Belle View apartments was on low income apartments. I mailed a letter to Belle View apartments office saying i wanna live there. Office never sent me a letter to my parents house because i said i'm unemployed. I could work out something with apartment landlord at Belle View about me paying a low monthly rent from money i get from social services. Just because i'm unemployed and black don't mean i won't act right if i lived in Belle View apartments. I can't force white people to give me a job with lots of money so i can live in Belle View. Belle View shopping center has Safeway grocery store, Roy Rogers restaurant, CVS Pharmacy, barbershop, Baskin Robbins ice cream. I love Martha Washington library on Fort Hunt street that's close to Belle View. Martha Washington is best library in Alexandria, Virginia.

Fairfax County residents had money allocated for that, about 20 years ago, and they took it to build shelter for illegals in Herndon, because their heads were getting rained on, and i recall it being built for millions. Residents, like me, were very angry about it. I'd much rather taxes go toward shelters, or actual 1 or 2 bedroom apartment for American's, especially Veterans. Back in the 70s, before immigrants came, you had to have someone here, ready to house you, before the US would accept immigrants, or have a job/work visa, and could speak some English.
