@maltese 84 because they are named red and blue in the United states, within multiple games such as the battle on mount silver in silver and gold, heart gold soul silver, black and white's allstar battle against previous gym leaders and champions, and the battle tree in ultra sun and moon... and then there's pokemon let's go, which I believe call them red and blue, but I could be wrong... so it's just their us regional name, but who knows, they could be called it in Europe and other countries, I don't know, I don't pay attention to the outside worlds naming conventions, I can barely pronounce one language, yet alone other non native languages.

I see what people are saying about it feeling sad, everyone hes travelled with has cut out from the journey to pursue their own dreams, makes sense right? They can't all just randomly follow after Ash forever wherever he decides to go. With them leaving it feels like they're taking a step towards their goal by doing their own this while Ash is still here struggling doing the same thing without much progress. Time is passing in the anime even though they don't like to acknowledge it much and Ash has only just managed to win a league despite being capable of doing so since Sinnoh. He hasn't made a big jump towards his goal by like fighting an elite 4 or champion and Alola doesn't even have those in the anime so hes essentially in the same place as before...
