A major landslide continues to threaten more homes in Rolling Hills Estates after 10 were destroyed when the hillside gave way and began sliding into the canyon below.

The name Rolling Hills means that the hills are rolling. It's not the broke water pipe, the pipe is broken because of the moving ground. Go back to the history, why this name rolling hills ? You cannot build houses at this location.

If a pipe broke don't you think that it was the earth shifting that caused it in the first place? Then it proceeds to expand and now the hillside is giving away, by Friday, the homes across the street are going to be in for the same thing. People need to pay attention, when you have a crack in your driveway or slab, etc and it continues to get bigger, there is a problem and it needs to be addressed asap, especially in CA. This is so heartbreaking, I would be getting a truck and moving my things to a safer place because it could be any time the existing homes could go. Lives are precious!

The cause was building in top of what has known to be an active landslide since the 1950s!🙄 I don't understand how any inspector signs off on construction anywhere near Portuguese Bend. It moves about 8 feet annually, for the last 70 years!

Since those homes were built , drought got worse and worse with each passing years which turned to decades ....With that the Erosion of the soil that lies beneath the foundation finally gives way...In this case, these are a clutter of homes built closely next to each other on a lumpy hill near the edge of a Canyon which adds to the risk factor of land slide... Most unfortunate because HomeOwner's Insurance doesn't include Landslides .... It will be at least a couple years IF and when Civil Engineers and the city can approve the redevelopment of the affected area...A BIG IF... Then the their lays the issue of no longer having the original home value before the slide, in this case between $1.5mill- $2mill... There's no way those homeowners will get the full value of their homes prior to the slide IF it ends up with new home developers making bids

Apparently one family just moved in. What a tragedy. Sadly, landslide is not covered on a standard homeowner policy. They need a coverage called "Difference in Conditions" which covers landslide. I'm surprised the mortgagee approved a loan in that area.

I'm glad nobody in these homes died, but you know, my mother has several homes built. You have to have somebody on-site that's there for you, you can't have people building homes and assume that they're gonna do the right thing. Other man is the way exposed to be when they put it up. The one thing that I can't say is these people may know. Millionaire billionaires at trillionaires. A lot of these people don't want to pay 15 bucks an hour a lot of these people don't want to pay medical none of these people want to work in port to pay all the taxes. Well, sometimes you gotta look in the Mirror because God gave You Free will, that's how You what You do with your Free will and Life are You walking on the side of god, are You doing The Thing you're supposed to do in life, or are You one of the people that just looked Down at Everybody and just think about yourself?
