The Beatles' "Revolver" album cover is iconic. It's a wonderful image. And the Recording Academy agreed. Klaus Voormann won a Grammy for designing that cover! And this was before The Beatles were fully accepted by the Grammy membership. The Metallica and Bon Jovi covers are great as well.

As with the RRHOF I stopped taking Rolling Stone seriously years ago. The Revolver cover is iconic and doesn't belong in this lift.

For context, I'm a 55 year old Brit. Fully agree with your choice of Beatles worst cover. The cover puts me off listening to the album until I remind myself of its tracks. To me, the Rod Stewart cover shows a little girl and her grandfather having fun. (The photo is pretty low quality, but I can't see anything wrong with the man's face.) Apparently, the album's title was change to The Rod Stewart Album for the US market. I'm not sure why you censored the bubblegum of the Scorpion's Lovedrive album, though I understand why what the bubblegum is stuck to has been censored. However, like you said, there are several more controversial Scorpion covers. Artistically, I can't see anything wrong with Lovedrive, and find it funny. Most of the genuinely bad covers just look like the covers of ultra-cheap compilation albums issued in the 1970's (and 80's?) that went straight into bargain bins.

If I made a worst covers list, fifth of my choices would be Madonna covers. I'd also add James Taylor's 'Gorilla'. What gorilla? There's no gorilla on that cover! It's just James Taylor looking down and pointing at . . . what?

Few weeks ago I was in Tunes : Hoboken I came across a copy of Steam : Steam Their only album which i had to get for Bad artwork It also has original version of Na Na Hey Hey ( Kiss him goodbye ) on it A great pick up and as i said A cover worthy of this list

I think the Magical Mystery Tour album cover is fine. It evokes the psychedelic band posters of the day while incorporating the original Ep cover. I think The worst Beatle album cover is Beatles VI.

Rolling Stone is all about the “click bait” these days. They knew if they put any Beatles cover on the list it would generate a lot of reactions and publicity. I’m surprised they didn’t go with Sgt Pepper.

Hard Labor from Three Dog Night is my vote for the absolute worst cover of all time. The album itself is very good, the cover art is an ill concieved college prank that just didn't work. Most of the albums on this list just look like tossed together cover art for budget compilations. One thoought I have to gain consistantly good album coveer art is to have formal black tie awards dinners for the truley awful covers. How would you like to win an award for a botched album cover?

Gotta agree with RS on Revolver, and tbh I'm surprised there's any real disagreement on this. At best, it looks like an amateurish rough sketch or early draft of an interesting idea that could have led to really intriguing cover if they had then handed it over to a team of talented professional artists to do the "real" version. Also, it's a completely black & white cover for an album that should be exploding in a psychedelic rainbow of color. Although on the other hand, at least every line shows the unmistakable handiwork of an actual artist's unique style, while you're right that Magical Mystery Tour is just boring & soulless, yet still oddly amateurish. Capital just took the already slapdash, low-effort cover of the original British EP and surrounded it by a generic looking wallpaper background that kinda looks like one of the default background patterns included in some bit of early 90's graphical editing freeware. The only thing that makes Love Beach a horrible album cover is the words "Emerson Lake & Palmer". Purely on its own merits it's a perfectly fine cover, it would make a great cover for an album by the Bay City Rollers or, yes, the Bee Gees. It's just catastrophically wrong for ELP. James Brown has some absolutely hideous, eye-torturing album covers, but Gravity ain't one of them. Just check out some of his mid-60's albums like "I Got You (I Feel Good)", "Mighty Instrumentals" and "James Brown Sings Raw Soul".
