The lyrics were controversial enough at the time that they had to change them to Lets spend some time together for a performance on the Ed Sullivan Show Wow.

Can't go wrong with the Rolling Stones. I saw them in concert 4 years ago. I couldn't believe how good they sounded. Mick was jumping around, he has so much energy. Other good songs of the Stones are "Gimme Shelter", "Ruby Tuesday" and "As Tears go By."

Every rock and roll fan knows a collection of Stones tunes they like. RIP Brian Jones (piano), he actually was the leader of the band in the beginning. RIP Charlie Watts (drums), Bill Wyman (bass), retired from the Rolling Stones 30 years ago! Fave album: Some Girls, 1978

I saw The Stones as my first real concert. My aunt bought me a ticket as a birthday present and I went with friends of hers, who were total strangers to me. I was this kid with a bunch of middle-aged folks tailgating at Shea. The show blew me away. At that point they had been around for 25 years. That was unfathomable to my mind, and at the time, unheard of. I remember saying it was lucky I got to see them because...how much longer could they possibly be around? Meanwhile, here we are THIRTY-FOUR years later, and they're still filling stadiums. I've seen them five times over the years, and they have gotten better and better with age. My last time was a few years back, their last tour before Charlie died. I've seen everyone. All the greats are passing on, and live shows have gotten insultingly expensive. I decided afterward that last Stones show was my last big concert, period. A perfect bookend. I began with them as a kid and ended with them decades later as a man. God bless Mick, Keith, Charlie, Bill, and Ronnie. Thanks guys.

US radio stations wouldn't play this because it was about two unmarried people. Ruby Tuesday was the "B" side and that's how that song became the hit side.

Great song Angela! TheStones ("bad boys of rock") were so desperate to be featured on EdSullivan that they agreed to allow a suggest change in the lyric, from "the night" to "some time"... When the show demanded lyric changes to TheDoors hit LightMyFire, Morrison said, "Sure, sure" and then went on and did the original lyrics. Sullivan&Co were pissed, but Jim said, "What they gonna do about it? Ban us? We don't need Sullivan anymore!
@ptournas Жыл бұрын
I remember that appearance! A friend and I were watching it and we both started laughing when Mick looked right into the camera and started rolling his eyes when he sang "let's spend some time together". We heard later about Sullivan getting so upset that he said he would never have them on the show again but he did a few years later. Got to re-live this recently when I found the performance on KZbin!

Oh yeah I’ve watched that, very cool! Rae Dawn Chong was so hot back in the day. She was in that interesting film “Quest For Fire” (1981), an really good caveman movie where the characters speak in grunts and hand gestures the whole time, but the audience knows exactly what’s happening. Very cool film!
