I first played this in the arcade and I was quite pleased with the ZX Spectrum conversion of Rolling Thunder but it was quite difficult.

Awesome! The arcade version is my first memory of playing a videogame as my parents would sit me down on a barstool in front of it when they were doing the wash at a laundromat (being as how they were just out of the Navy and still had yet to afford their own washer/dryer set) to keep me busy while they went about their business. I don't ever recall ever making it past the first level, but hey, I was just a little one at that point. Also I think that's what caused my life-long gaming addiction, now that I think about it 😂

Great video! I could feel your frustration during the lava level. It did make me laugh watching you fail and fall and fail and fall and.. argh!.. the flying death angels!! 😂

Bloody hell; those platforms on the lava level are massively unforgiving. Love the Advanced Henchman Training video!

I truly believe those platforms are earth's worst platforms.

A silly little game, but the henchmen sprites are awesome.

I really liked the arcade coin-op, and this Spectrum conversion is quite good. The only thing that I miss is the background music theme from the original.

Loved the arcade game. First played it at The Point multi screen cinema in Milton Keynes. It was the first game I ever saw that when you fired you had recoil, your hand would be pushed up, incredible (at the time). I then bought then c64 version without seeing any reviews. It was like playing a Lego Duplo version 😞

Love this game and the speccy version makes do... X

It's not a bad port at all - I'd much sooner take the Arcade version, but that Lava level... Oof. It took 50% of the goodwill I had for the game and dropkicked it into a volcano.

Think the training video man may have voiced the daleks from time to time. Had the Kixx re-release of this, good looking game.

I like this game. I even owned the arcade machine once, but one thing I can’t decide is if it is some kind of semi sequel to Elevator Action. Maybe it’s just the doors, but it’s kind of Elevator Action sideways, with no elevators. You think what I’m saying is misguided? Think about this then, Elevator Action Returns! Now that game is a much better sequel to Rolling Thunder than it is to Elevator Action. Ok, it has Elevators, but it looks and plays like Rolling Thunder. Do you see why I am confused?

Yeah. I'd agree on that!

They could have had henchmen who were extra strong... hench henchmen! The rainbow klansmen from the arcade were funny but you lose that with the Speccy.
@RoseTintedSpectrum4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it took me ages to realise that there are two types of henchmen - one takes two shots, but it's practically impossible to tell them apart in the Speccy.

Question: has Tiertex Design Studios ever put something legitimately good out?, not so bad its good, not so nuts its good, just this works as intended good
@RoseTintedSpectrum4 жыл бұрын
Pretty hit and miss in all honesty, they did some good ports for 16bit consoles but they're certainly not a name that you would assign a mark of true quality. Flashback on the SNES is probably their peak.
@backwardsbrainslabs.1484 жыл бұрын
@@RoseTintedSpectrum that's not even that notable as a port, and they made the somehow more confusing tie in to Street Fighter than Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight, HKM(Human Killing Machine), these porting companies were just so nuts

After watching the ultimate dance of disgusting greed that whyfiles has become i had to come and watch an awesome channel for a bit 😊 Why did no speccy platformers scroll when other genres and modern platform games (theres an awesome SMB game now) could scroll the screen?
