This interview demonstrates a theme that comes up a lot in Wallace's work: that all of us are so off-put by earnestness that we hit it with irony, like, immediately.

I agree, but I think Jason Segal shows a lot of times, like at the ending of this video, a certain urge to talk and discuss about those questions. I love that guy.

I met this boy who was earnest and I was so repelled by it. I guess the only thing that intrigued me about him was his mysterious ways.

The End of the Tour is an exceptionally special film. It quickly became in my top 10 of all time; and the themes explored, I thought about every day for a year. Oscar level performances and amazing screenwriting and directing. I am about 400 pages into Infinite Jest and had to put it down for awhile. It's one of the hardest books I've ever read, but worth the effort.

Every Jesse Eisenberg exudes the same vibe, of a genius operating at ten times the pace of the average human mind, twiddling his thumbs in his head while impatiently enduring the interview to its end so as to devote his mental prowess to the more worthy pursuit of discovering the meaning of existence.

Gregory Frowendown maybe that's why he seems like a genius. Many geniuses throughout history had mental disorders

This might not be the place to say this, but Segel's cadence lends itself so well for Wallace's. To then consider how well him and Eisenberg worked together... I wish David Foster Wallace was around (for so many reasons, including) to see this.

To celebrate their new film The End of the Tour; Jason Segel and Jesse Eisenberg sat down with Rolling Stone for an exclusive, wide-ranging conversation that covered everything from embarrassing summer camp stories to tombstone sizes and what constitutes leading a fulfilling life.
