The power Monsta X's maknae line holds. Since the start, MX has always been active musically, not just in an idol sense. When they first debuted, it is understandable that they are not given as much freedom to develop or show their more musical/producer sides but it has always been a mainstay and characteristic of MX (idk about you but it seemed as though they would eventually reach that stage and I believe that they have reached it after 7 years of hard work 😭) - even if doesn't show as much in their earlier years. In recent years, they seem to have broken out of that idol "frame" and "label" and became a powerhouse in kpop and even in the international market, with their distinct style. It's not a style that boxes/limits them but it's a distinct flavour that's weaved into their albums and songs that differentiates them even if they are doing different concepts, especially the ones composed and produced by the members. They may have started out as idols but the monsta x I see right now, is a music team, not just an idol group. They're, especially the maknae line, so talented and they slowly, quietly behind the scenes, worked their way up to having an album that is 90% produced, composed and written by the three of them. It's not sheer luck that they got to where they are today but through pure hard work and tenacity.

It’s been 6 years since Jooheon is giving us precious life’s lessons, this boy is the reason why I started to like Monsta x and listen to kpop even if for 28 years I only listened punk and the good old 90’s hip hop. Getting to witness how Monsta X has evolved sonically and matured in their composition and in many other aspects...I can't help but be grateful that all their relentless hard work has gotten them to this point where they're comfortable about what they produce (the fact that they are able to make songs they like too) and not be so solely focused on bagging number ones. I mean, everything new we're getting from Monsta X are still top-tier, and I don't think that's changing anytime soon.

I have been having such a hard time ever since the pandemic hit the U.S and I honestly feel like giving up on so many things especially since my mental health has been declining. But the way Jooheon said that it takes hard work to get where you wanna be and although it might be a long and hard road you should never give up. If I learned anything from you, it's that no one can tell me I can't do it. If I set a goal and get up every day to improve, I know I can do it. It probably took Jooheon even with all the talent he has 7 years or 13, it will probably take me 5 or 20, it doesn't matter, as long as I achieve it. Thanks Monsta X, especially thanks Jooheon and thanks Hyungwon you have also taught me to love the process of my achievements and failures. If I achieve my dreams, if my songs reach your ears or better yet your mouths, I want you to know that I owe it all to you. I'm not ready yet, I know, but there won't be a day that I won't try.
