My husband got injured in HS football, 1976. I met him in 1980. We clicked immediately at a party. I knew he was the love of my life, we have been married for 39+ yrs! 4 daughters, 4 sons in law, 4 awesome grandkids! He’s been such an independent man for all of our time together, but 6 yrs ago, he sustained a wound on his butt, it went down to the bone. So, now he’s been mostly bedridden since then. He’s my life partner & best friend, so I take care of him! He’s such an inspiration for me, because he doesn’t complain about what happened to him. Our grandchildren surround him in his bed & just talk to him & watch movies with him! Never give up!! Life is precious as long as we breathe!❣️💖💙🥰

My husband had a sacral wound acquired in the hospital which became stage 4 after the staff dropped him from a hoyer lift and destroyed his coccyx. The wound was as big and deep as a tennis ball. Hospital and nursing home didn't cure it but I brought him home and with the wound care center and learning to dress it myself, it has finally, healed, filled in and closed. It took six months. My husband is 76.

It's a strange coincidence that this story popped up in my main feed. On April 19, 2023, the worst news was relayed to me. I met a lovely man in December 1991. I became a nanny for his three beautiful children back then. On March 6, 2023, he got out of bed that morning, entered the washroom, & unexpectedly blacked out. When falling, he hit his head on the edge of the bath tub. He is currently paralyzed from the neck down. He went from a healthy 63 year old man, to this. He was a soccer player, a coach, a mentor, a hiker, a cross country skier, a traveller. He lived in the country with clean air. He never used drugs, didn't smoke, & was a light drinker. In a split second, his whole world changed. It also changed for his wife, & his grown children. My heart aches. I hope that one day, he will become a Cole. Stay strong, & God speed. ❤

Cole, I first came across you on KZbin about two years ago which was about three years after me getting paralyzed from the chest down just like you are. In 2018 between January and June, I attempted suicide five times… One of which killed me. God literally reached down from heaven with his mighty hands of healing and literally brought me back to life from the dead… You have inspired me so incredibly much over these last few years, you have shown me there a new “Normal” is still truly out there/attainable/available. Also like you, I had basketball taken away from me… I was six years old the first time my dad put a basketball in my hand, and I haven’t stopped playing since… I played basketball for 32 years… Practically my whole life. When we first got paralyzed, the first things and for me they were constant after I was finally out of the ICU after 3 1/2 weeks, My activity by chosen activity was staring at the ceiling in the hospital just thinking about the literally tens and thousands of different things that I couldn’t do anymore… When I finally realized… I’m sure that when we both realized that we couldn’t play basketball anymore, it literally felt like our hearts ripping out of our chest… I used to get super emotional about it. We have both had our dark days and dark moments after being paralyzed… I am so grateful and thankful that God led me to you on KZbin… You have inspired me and like I said before, you have shown me that there can be happiness after our injuries! I guess I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for being you, and just like your brother said… You may be younger than me, but I look up to you! I feel the exact same way… And I need you to know that one of the reasons I am alive today, is You! You just being you… Happy go lucky, positive, able to do things even in a wheelchair… You are a huge part of my success and part of my recovery from being paralyzed! I know we have never met, but I love you like a brother! Today I randomly saw the Q&A sessions you did with each of your parents and it helped me to cry today. Today is the 11 year anniversary of my daughter passing. She was born on 8/9/10 with a rare form of dwarfism that didn’t allow for her lungs to fully grow and develop. She passed away in my arms on 8/11/10. Typically I lay in bed these days and seclude myself. Today I didn’t do that. I believe she visited me a few times this week to let me know she was with me and she was ok. I’ve made it a point not to let my emotions out. But I needed to and you helped me do that. Had she lived she would have had many physical difficulties with her legs alone with multiple surgeries. Seeing how your family, friends and community was/is there for you is absolutely amazing!!! Seeing your embrace your situation and use your experiences to help others is phenomenal and I admire you deeply for sharing your Life with us. I’ve been a subscribe for maybe 2 years now and I always enjoy your content and positivity. Especially the love between you ans Charisma. Although my daughter’s condition and yours are not similar in nature I still feel a connection to you, especially to Kelly Mama being the mama bear she is 💜 Thank you again for sharing, for helping me release some of my sadness and for showing your strength, love and positivity throughout it all.

Somethings happens to us and we will never know why but God will never gives us more than we can bear. Look what you’ve accomplished being in a wheelchair. I’ve learn so much about about disabilities, some thing simple as the sidewalk cut off for wheelchairs. I’ve learned so much about the wheelchair world. I am more aware when I see a handicap sign. Such a beautiful love story. I was a rehab nurse and understand the complexity of what it takes to just to adapt to the changes a spinal cord injury has on a person, their family and friends.
