I was lucky to have Rolly as a teacher twice at the Swannanoa Gathering guitar week, and he's really the best teacher I've ever had in any subject or setting. Pretty sure he does private lessons either online with a webcam or by video disc/file swapping. Thanks again, Rolly! Superb contribution to guitar pedagogy.

I have only watched this video and one that was emailed to me from Stephan grossmans guitar workshop where you explain how easy it really is to find any note on the fretboard providing you know your strings and the chromatic rule,I have been playing guitars since age 12,and while I can play my ass off,the 10 minutes worth of videos I have watched of you have taught me more about my instrument than I've learned in the past 26 years,it's amazing how you explain things and they just click, thanks

He makes it look simple because he is a real musician, there are lots of us who appreciate this level of understanding and will spend happy hours soaking in this brilliant video of approximately 6 mins. I am looking forward to having a go, Love Major 7th chords

I was lucky enough to actually have "private lessons" with Mr. Rolly Brown back in the 70's. We practiced White Crane Kung Fu together and I would help him with WCKF . Rolly would tell me that just learning tab is not learning the guitar, but I just wanted to be able to play some of the stuff he did..I was stupid for not taking advantage of this knowledgable, talented, dedicated guitar player..I am now retired and have the time to really learn the guitar and these vids are all anyone needs!!

Your very welcome Rolly!!!,but seriously you are the one who deserves all the thanks,if it weren't for guys like you,those of us who struggle with learning the basic fundamentals of the instrument,that are necessary to grow as a musician and learn to speak with your instrument,I'd be lost still playing cover tunes,and while that's fun it's not rewarding or fulfilling to me as a musician,I can't believe how easy you really make it seem and then prove it by logical explanation,it's just awesome

Hi, Bryan, Try the "ii-V-I" video before moving on to the 1200. When you start the 1200, do the top 4 strings set first, and give each string set as much time as you're giving the "240 chords" set. Have fun!

Im probably 6 or 7yrs late But!!!!So when I want to play my other chord positions in say starting from Amaj7,I will run out of room for the other three positions.Is there a lesson to show the string sets and fingering positions for this????
@djangokeli6 жыл бұрын
Hi, tinirop, learn the location of the root note of each chord. the positions are moveable. For the key of A, each of the shapes will occur 3 frets lower than for C. Then the bottom shape (3X231X) will move to the upper end for A7 (12 X 11 12 10 X).
@tinirop6 жыл бұрын
Rolly Brown .I got it.I am going from A7 then climbing from the 2nd fret after the nut to fourth position???Does the root note on whatever fret it is call’s it’s position?etc the A root note for A7 is on the second fret making it second position?

Can you tell me please why the Cmaj6 and Cmin7 have same shape????
@djangokeli10 жыл бұрын
Cmaj6 and Amin7 are made up of the same notes. recipe for maj6 = 1,3,5,6...in C, that's C,E,G,A recipe for min7 = 1,b3,5,b7...in A, that's A,C,E,G Same notes, but they occupy a different place within the chord relative to the root note.

Wow! This isn't for begginers! I was lost in 20 seconds! Maybe one year I'll understand what he's talking about.
Of course, many of those chord fingerings overlap. The last C6 fingering and the first Cm7 fingering are the same. Yikes. They're all the same fingerings, just the minor 7th voicings are 3 frets higher than the 6 chord voicings. This has the potential to become very confusing.

Without conceptualizing the sequencial numbers of the chordtones your system is meaningless.

Chances are if someone can follow the gibberish your talking, they can already play the chords

wrong. This would appeal to anyone with a basic understanding of theory, or even just a decent enough ears to ear which intervals match up in each voicings. I'm not expert but I'm fairly sure this is just an elaboration of the ol' caged method.
