TEXT
Romans 13:10-13
New International Version
10 Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
The Day Is Near
11 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.
Author: The apostle Paul is named as the book's author in Romans 1:1. According to Romans 16:22, Paul had a man by the name of Tertius transcribe his words.
Date of Writing: The Book of Romans was most likely written between the years 56 and 58 A.D.
Writing Goal: As with all of Paul's letters to the churches, the goal of this one was to edify and uplift the believers who would read it, while also proclaiming the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ via the teaching of doctrine. Paul wrote this letter specifically to the people in Rome who were "loved by God and called to be saints" (Romans 1:7). Being a Roman citizen himself, he felt a special affection for the members of the Rome assembly of believers. This letter also acted as his introduction to the Rome church, as he had not yet visited them. One of the Key Verses in the book of Romans: Romans 1:16
