Our team worked on V710 (Transit Custom/Tourneo production vehicle) which became Supervan 4, and much of the rapid prototyping (SLS - plastic printing) for the race vehicle was done by colleagues at our Engineering Centre in Dunton Essex. So for me last year's Ford entry for Pikes Peak the Supervan 4 at 2000hp, sub 2 second 0-60, is the ultimate statement from Ford. Both are incredible vehicles made by Stohl Advanced Research and Development, the detail and craftsmanship of their construction is incredible.

Man, I have driven up PP many times and watching the videos still freaks me out a bit. Couldn’t imagine doing it at those speeds. For the best video of the race, check out ‘Climb Dance’ video from 1987 when it was still dirt. Peugot sounds amazing.

This banter is interesting. I wonder how many of the folks complaining about the EV aspect of this have actually driven one? As an owner of a pretty “slow” EV, I can tell you that watching them may be boring, but driving them is far more fun than any ICE car. Instant torque, low C.o.G., and strong regen into corners makes my Chevy Bolt a blast to cruise the twisties. So, I would say the EVs are driver’s cars, even if they aren’t spectators’ cars.

@@wyattmunger5529 it's not even close to wild, it's just correct lmao Like I've been building cars since I was 13, I've been racing IRL for nearly 2 decades, I have my noisy old modified cars and my V8 car and whatnot, but honestly some of the most fun cars I've been in/driven are hybrid economy cars (never driven a full EV unfortunately). That electric torque off the line and out of corners makes for huge amounts of fun. If I had the money I'd have an EV race car in a heartbeat.

Nothing better than electric power. Lots of instant torque and it never runs out of steam, even with altitude. The thermic needs a lot of air, the electric does not need it. These are the cars of tomorrow and they will not suck the air out of our children.

Playing Polyphony's Advocate, it's because there's no incentive for Polyphony to put it in. Gran Turismo in its current form is built around online racing. You can't have multiple people going up at once in a sprint, you have to figure out how to handle invisible walls, and the only event it'd really be good for is a single player event or online time trial. Other than that, it just doesn't seem to be worth it for them.

Just put pikes peak in gt or sell the licence so fans can actually enjoy the track on simulator without the need to play 10 year old game or mod that is not that great. Also there is so much to do in gt 7 i have 300 hours single player only and i have still so much to do. They could make a mission around pikes peak or as you said online time trial since rally didnt change since gt3, beside multiplayer has been the same since sport, its not really focused on multiplayer that much. Almost all content updates are single player oriented.

Euro? This is in the US. It's required for EVs at pikes peak for safety reasons.

Eventually there is going to be very little combustion motorsports, and I suppose those people would rather have less racing than racing with a different power source. Everyone agrees, the sound sucks. But the performance, the racing, and the technology is still just as awesome. If you are a race fan, you don't care what powers them, you just want to race.

I love Piles Peak but it annoys me immensely that the event has been sponsored by 'Gran Turismo' who after so many years of sponsorship still haven't introduced this amazing TT course into more recent versions of the game. What a missed opportunity! The game director really is a fool to sponsor such an event and not capitalise on its inclusion within the game - it makes no sense. Kaz - please will you retire and allow some young blood to invigorate and revitalise the GT series which I think is going stagnant under your direction.... 👃😇
