As a longtime fan of IU and music broadly…I just don’t believe there is anyone like her. Her music cuts across so many genres. She doesn’t follow conventions at all. She works with top composers and legendary musicians to build her own knowledge. Some of her most famous songs are also her compositions (Palette, Blueming, Friday, many others)… She has also won top awards for her lyrics, and she has produced her albums since 2015. The more you get to know her as a person and the meaning behind her lyrics…and how purposeful she is with every song in terms of her voice and technique, the more you simply can’t help but love her… And as you will also find with her IU TV and Palette show, she is also an absolute angel who fortunately has a wonderful team around her (some of which have been with her since the early days (2008-2010 timeframe) when she was still so very young…

Yes except for 8 which is about her struggle in dealing with the deaths of her 3 friends and about her coming to terms with their loss. 8 has many meaning the song. Age, the infinite sign representing Forever and 8 is also the number of years IU had known Sulli.

You ladies are right about IU that she is very real and down to earth and tough! One of her song called twenty three has the part where she says that she never wrote a single line of lies. I recommend to check out Killing Voice where she sings little bits of her songs in her twenties, this will give you more ideas that IU sings all kind of genres and styles. For what it's worth, IU can do cute. Very, very well. But as you can tell by the lyrics, BBIBBI isn't about that. Another thing I'd like to say is that IU is, if anything, genuine. Most of her songs are written by her and explore various situations and feelings that helps her listeners relate to her. And though she's polite more often than not, she doesn't have much of a filter. If you go through her IU TV videos, you'll see that she's totally fine with her fans seeing her struggling or petty or raw. I would argue that, out of all idols, IU is likely the best understood by her fans. She doesn't represent one theme or message - she is her... and all that entails.

The song "BBIBBI" (title of the song symbolizes the whistle that indicates a foul on the field) was originally a song written by IU to commemorate her 10th anniversary as a singer. However, during the process of creation, the lyrics gradually turned to express her views on maintaining a normal relationship between "celebrity" and "fans". As a singer who has been bullied since she debuted on stage at the age of 15, as she became more popular among the public, the more malicious actions were directed towards her. With this single, she appeals to everyone: Mutual respect is the basis for long-term relationship. By the way, this MV is famous for containing a lot of metaphors almost everywhere in its scenes.

I've went into IU's rabbit hole 3 years ago and have been awed with her artistry as well as with her personality.
