I got up, shook his hand & I told him, 'nice to have met you'. I started to walk away when he asked me where I was going. I said, 'I don't believe in playing anyone's pretend wife. I don't want to waste my youth on a guy that won't marry me.' He laughed & I didn't. - 1 year later he asked to marry me. - 1yr, 1 month & 4 days from the day we met, we were married (NOT common law). - Been married now almost 16 years. No one who knew him could believe he got married. No one who knew me would have believed that I would have settled for anything less. I know so many women who cry about "wasting their life" on some guy they dated for 10 plus years only to break up & have him marry his very next girlfriend with in a year of meeting her. They wonder why he changed. Why he wouldn't marry them. He didn't change. You just didn't require a commitment. The only thing about him that "changed", was, what was expected of him.

True story. I know one girl, who spends money on her "husband", pays rent for their place, works so much for this, he calls her "wife" while "looking for a job" and saving money he gets from government for their future flat. Except, it will be on his name, she is not his wife, he can ditch her anytime and she will have no right for property they earn together. But she is 19 and an idiot. He is about 25 and a bad person, taking advantage of her like that. "We don't believe in marriage" lmao - well do you believe in propriety and law? You lady have some respect for yourself and understanding of how law works, and you totally deserve to brag about it
