Hello, thank you for this podcast! I speak Chinese with my wife and children, however, my 'formal' Chinese is not too strong. I have been reading 三国 in my spare time. However, you add all of the historical details that allow me to really comprehend the story and its setting. Thanks!

This is literally the best audiobook ive found. Bro you should litterally do the audiobook verbatim and sell that shit. Bc no one is doing it. Youll get rich.

Indeed, it's been 20 years since I read this epic. I just got the new total war game and this reading is essential to recall what the historical sequence of events was. I like how the narrator summarizes (humorously) from time to time the events.

@@stoonersan2707 Yeah, he's great! And it's good to hear everything with the correct pronounciation. His "Supplementary Episodes" are some of my favourite, telling us the fact from Fiction.

White Canadian dude here! This is awesome! I grew up in Vancouver and have quite a few Chinese friends and , when younger, i took up kung fu with my buddies. I was the only white guy there, but I loved the culture and ethos of my martial arts club. I always noticed the painting of the 3 heroes you alwsys see and asked who they were. I then bought the book, the romance of the 3 kingdom's and fell in love, even more for this chinese classic. Great lecture/analysis of this epic! Thanks for this! It's funny how popular this story is now, comics, films, animation and video games, classic, timeless and still of the present to those who love tales of loyalties and chivalry.

so I've been making my own three kingdoms audiobook and recently finished it and about halfway thought I've been hearing a lot about this podcast so I figure I check it out. it seems like we both had the same problem at the start because my audio was awful at the start too. and like you said you only get one chance to get a first impression so I'm going to have to re-do my first 27 chapters which will take a while but is fine. so we both had the same goal to introducing this great story to more people that might have got a taste for it from the games. but I definitely took a different approach than you. you seem to have went with a more simplified reading with some context thrown in. while I wanted to have just a straight off reading of the story in English and I don't have a good storytelling voice so I ran the text through a text to speech app and it has this great narrator voice it doesn't sound robotic at all. but it does have trouble pronouncing a lot of the names so cao cao is now cow cow. but I'm adding subtitles through the captions to have the correct spelling for everything and so people could read along with it if they want to I already redid the first chapter with the better audio but chapters 2 to 27 still, sound like they were recorded from a tin can will probably take me about a month to redo them all. if you can check it out let me know what you think and I'll be sure to listen to this on in off while I'm at work.

I am a fan of the eastern wu Hero's like Zhou Yu, sun ce, Ling Tong, Gan Ning, Lu meng, Ding Feng, and Lu Su are all great generals of which I believe Zhou Yu to be my favorite a brilliant strategist hirstorically as great as Zhuge Laing Alas 30 minutes in I can this novel is pro Shu Han which is okay I'm just waiting the tragic tales of Sun Jian and Sun Ce poor Sun Quan had his brother ripped away from him at the same age Sun Ce father died Sun Jian

Historically, zhou yu is better than zhuge liang in his military achievement,Zhuge only have his win against the Man people (Meng Huo) as his military achievement while Zhou Yu have plenty military achievemeny including the win over Cao Cao in the Battle of Red Cliff.I found Gan Ning and Lu Su as the most interesting characters from Eastern Wu.
