Once created a massive empire that took hours to craft...Then tore it all apart after my character died and the character I played as his oath brother was mad disrespected by my previous character's heir. It was insane. I definitely cherish this entry.

Dang must've had half of your officers quit.
@DevilPogoStick3 ай бұрын
@@Powerhouse1 Surprisingly quite the story. My sworn brother character was the prefect of the capital where the Emperor was located. When I realized my new lord was treating me poorly now that my previous character was dead and my position was at a dead end, I decided to spend time creating close bonds with my officers stationed there before breaking off. They remained loyal to me but my biggest play on my new war against my former liege was arranging a massive coalition against my former empire. After personally burning my nemesis in battle where he died not long after, I sat back and watched as numerous petty kingdoms started taking swaths of territory I once painstakingly fought for. I knew once the coalition ends, they'll all go back to fighting each other but now more powerful thanks to the lands they got. I destroyed my own kingdom. Out of spite. And the sworn brother character I played was Lu Bu 🤣
@Powerhouse13 ай бұрын
@@DevilPogoStick Ah, of course it was Lu Bu, although you played him more intelligently than he would have historically. That's a pretty awesome sequence of events, and really why I love this series so much.

One thing many people don't know - but I wouldn't be suprised if it was mentioned in the manual: By holding L2 (or R2? Maybe any of those?) you can speed through text, and, most importantly, skip movement and attack animations in battle - just make sure to press the button BEFORE the animation starts, as there's no way to skip it when it already started. This feature can cut down the time spent in battles significantly. Warlord's sphere of influence is dependent on who's they working for. The Prefect's Warlord can only make strategic suggestions for own city, but Viceroy's Warlord can do so for all cities of the district, and Ruler's Warlord can do so for all cities of that Ruler. And there's also the direct benefit of the Warlord, being the RNG prediction of many possible orders that can be given to officers, that depend on many values both visible and hidden - Warlord's advice only happens if you are the Warlord, that Warlord is working for you, or you are good friends with them. Having a 100 INT Warlord basically means you never really roll dice - while it's tedious, you can basically check all people that can be sent on a mission to see if they'll succeed, without actually sending anyone. Sometimes it happens that seemingly inept for the task officer can succeed, while the smarter ones would fail.

Even with the animation skip those battles were slow af I preferred 7 it was alot faster when I played 8 it was for the scenarios they had alot of story packed into them it was always hype in our group to get a cutscene or watch an intro

Bad AI is why 8 was so much fun. The feeling of serving an idiot as your lord had it's challenge, and that is pretty much what the novel is about. The game would've been quite boring if AI was actually good.
@Powerhouse12 ай бұрын
Fair enough, although I found that sometimes being under a ruler would lead to stalemates if you weren't given authority to make your own decisions (become a prefect, warlord, etc.).
@ab-hv8qs2 ай бұрын
@@Powerhouse1 And That's what made it fun! Choose to be a ruler in this game, and often it gets boring real quick as you can exploit AI with full control. Dumb AI was a feature in this game, not a flaw lol

some events in the ps2 like the marriage one are really difficult to make them happen, even if you have all the checks for it especelly playing as a female officer but other than that a great game for customization

The 50 plus scenarios are confirmed. DLC is mainly looking to be "What if" scenarios. It also looks like they nearly doubled the officer count. So around twice as many officers as 13 had I think. (13 had around 900, the remake of 8 will have close to 2000) not counting created characters. It also looks like this will be built on the same mechanics but with added features the original didnt have such as creating your own tales. This looks to be fictional "if this happens it triggers so-and-so" like the historical events, only pre-set by players. Of the whole series, 8 and 10 were the best of them. This looks to be a mix of "what worked" with various other entries built on top of 8. I havent been this psyched for a new 3K game for many years. As I think after 10 the series really took a wrong turn with the messy rts direction. 13 was a step back in the right direction in some ways, but then they botched it all up again with 14. Going back to it roots has been MUCH needed for this series.

Definitely among the best, but not really the best. The best one ever is ROTK9. The sheer quick pick up and play style of that game in addition to the art style, music, tactics system and layout scream genius. It's among my most favorite games ever and not just my favorite ROTK game. Xiahou Yuan is such a glitched beast in that game.. he can do a zillion of tactics and still move on.
@archivegaming30146 ай бұрын
9 was fast, the simulation was so good and the system was very "free". You could conquer the north as Han fu with your buddy lui bei, and then get on boat and sail to Jiang dong to reestablish your self there, leaving a garrison in a camp incase your friend needs it once you leave. Incredibly open sandbox!

@archivegaming30146 ай бұрын
Although it had alot of features built atop rotk7, the pacing suffered especially in the battles. Battles took somewhere around 20-40 minutes in 8 because of the slooow animations and extra large maps youd have to march across to fight. It made the game a slog and the slowest until rotk14. Looking forward to remake im sure the speed is one of the first things thatll get fixed since tech is alot better now
