Rule #1 of online dating: if they won't video chat or meet you in person within 2 weeks or they ask for money before meeting you in person, they're a scammer.
@sarahphillips295 Жыл бұрын
💯% If people followed these simple and common sense rules (and never gave them nudes to use for sextortion,) these scammers would have to get real jobs and do something beneficial with themselves. I wouldn’t even give them two weeks either. If they’re in your area and aren’t a scammer or just totally wasting your time wanting a side piece, you should have a face to face date scheduled in a week.

You are just projecting your own feelings onto those texts. They are really just words that you have no idea of the intent behind them.
@the1exnay5 жыл бұрын
Blakeley Taylor I feel like you're underestimating what can be communicated via text. It's certainly less than can be communicated in person or on a call. And it's easier to lie via text of course. But there's still a lot that can be communicated via text including things outside the literal meaning of the words used. Sometimes after I've read a good book i can have trouble remembering whether it was a movie or a book. Like since it has been a couple years since I've watched or read harry potter i genuinely am not sure which parts of my memory are from the books or from the movies. My mind at least doesn't differentiate much between the source of the information. Is yours different? Is the medium strongly encoded in your memories?
@sp4rkl3ninj4taylor65 жыл бұрын
@@the1exnay Understandable. Ok, when you're reading a book don't you read with your imagination to put yourself where the characters are? Like when someone sends you the text...I love you. Do you imagine those words coming from his/her mouth, the setting in which they may be sending you the text in, and the emotion he/she must be feeling while sending that text? For me, I imagine that he's in a room, by himself, longing for me. But I also know it's probably not the case. Our imaginations get inserted between the lines. At least it does for me.

Not at all. I'm not putting down PG, but actual criminals, and I mean *real* criminals are way, *waaay* smarter than these, excuse my language, idiots and dumb scammers. I remember a documentary about drug smugglers using primitive phones and prepaid SIM cards that have no GPS, and even if detected through service provider tracing or whatever, they will change their cards AND phones such that whatever card was traced is left behind. Also, notice how PG can do almost nothing to track him unless he clicks the URL. And the reverse picture search? It just reveals where pic was taken from (could be just random FB account that they have plenty of pics, happy, sad if we're talking about sympathetic situations, nude if we're speaking of dating, or just stock share pictures website), but not where it was sent from. In short, if the criminal is dumb enough to use the same communication device and address and click whatever URL or accepted whoever joins his gang, then yes anyone can catch him. If he was a real, hyper-aware of every step he and others take then that's a tricky situation to deal with. And no, I'm not hating on PG or patronizing what he does; I enjoy every video of his. But *assuming all criminals to be this dumb to be tracked, and minimizing how difficult, and sometimes even very risky if an undercover agent was involved, and minimizing what real investigations takes, is something I'm against.* Before someone criticizes and says (but agency X does not do that, or government Y does not care enough to spend this much effort) is not my point. I'm not praising nor vindicating X and Y; I'm just pointing out what real investigation requires, and not arguing if organization Z does that or not. I don't care about politics, I'm talking about the abstract subject of investigation itself, and no I'm not an expert or an enthusiast, just a layman watching scam-baiting videos.

Finally, they ask me to send them a friend request. It’s July 2023. One of the recent scammers claimed to be a Navy SEAL. His profile was created in May 2023 and uses a pic of a gentleman who died in May 2023. He apparently saw the deceased man’s obituary and paired his picture with the biography of a real SEAL. Pleasant Green I really do like your channel. Honestly. I watch a few videos a day since I became a subscriber. Please keep doing what you're doing to help people gain awareness to scams. With that said this particular video loses some empathy from me, when the scammed let the "N" word drop. I get how pain is a force that can make someone lose themselves for a moment. But not only did he have time to work towards getting out of that headspace. He had time to contact you and play on your heartstrings. I can't feel bad for a guy that drops N BOMBS like that.

Well sure, we COULD use the story, in righteous indignation, to let the FBI know how dum they are….(I know I don't trust them anyway), perhaps even cut their funding (tax cuts are popular) …. OR, we can encourage IMPROVEMENT! and hook them up with "our man" to learn :)

The FBI is trash. So are local authorities. They are so incompetent at their jobs. They are more political in nature. It turns out they will not give a fuck. Even when an actual head of state contacts you. They look away indifferently. Especially if these foreigners made a deal to previously contact you first of all things through the USA federal government.

I still don't understand how anyone falls for these scams, never send anyone money, it's that simple. I came across this "girl" from "London" who said she wants a sugar daddy, I lived a good 3 hours away, she said not that far, she wanted to come over but didn't have enough money for petrol, said she needed £22 or so, I messed about with the scammer for ages, then said oh I got a place to go that we can meet about halfway, then she said she didn't know and that well if you don't wanna meet up and blah blah blah. Clearly a scam basically.
@erikswanson57534 жыл бұрын
I was once almost scammed by a "girl" who claimed to be in Russia. What made it so convincing for me is that I had been on a Russian dating site and I spoke Russian. She used to send me pictures, etc. I finally had the good sense to do a Google image search and the pics were of a Russian model. My first thought was "Wow. She's a model!" But then I started putting two and two together. I sent her emails in Russian, to let her know I spoke Russian. She always answered back in English and never directly answered what was in my emails. Then she told me she was getting a ticket to fly over to see me but didn't have the money. Could I please send her the money via Western Union. Then, I understood. "She" never got the money. I never got the girl.
