This was the first readathon I've ever participated in. It was a lot of fun. I really wanted to get to a book per challenge, but I ended up finishing 5 and encompassing all the challenges beside the last one. My favorite was definitely the Unhoneymooners, but Birthday Girl, The Kiss Quotient, and Heels Over Head were all 4 stars for me and I really enjoyed them, so a very successful week. Thanks for hosting this. I had a lot of fun.

Ok now I want to listen to Tswift! haha I hadn't heard anything negative about The Friend Zone yet, but I also find it interesting no one gave TWs for that ending in all the reviews I've seen so far. I feel like that's something someone would want to know before going into it. Great vlog :)

I just finished the Him/Us duet and LOVED it so I’m dying to read Top Secret! Since I struggle with infertility, I’ve been excited to read The Friend Zone, but I’m nervous since it’s been getting such polarizing reviews. Thank you for hosting this readathon! I had a blast participating. I filmed a vlog as well but it won’t be up for a couple days. I hope you guys do this readathon again! Maybe in the winter? 😍

yes i totally feel you on the romance burnout thing! i picked up vicious after the readathon for a bit of balance. i also feel you on the ”waiting for one to kill the other” thing, i just had the reverse problem. after reading 7 romance books in a row, even though i knew victor and eli were enemies, i kept waiting for one or both of them to confess that they were actually madly in love with the other 😂

Guess I should stay away from that first book you mentioned. I struggled with infertility for years. Luckily God blessed us with triplets after many years of trying. I'm reading on the island now. I've read a plane crash before in another book which I loved called Wreckage by Emily Bleeker which I loved.

@@gabbyreads Jim Jarmusch is a indie film director (Dead Man w/ Johnny Depp - Ghost Dog w/ Forest Whitaker etc.) The Dead Don't Die is his theatrical release. A campy zombie film with a huge cast Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Selena Gomez, Tom Waits, Iggy Pop, RZA, Tilda Swinton, Steve Buscemi, etc etc. It was fun, but kind of lost it's steam about 2/3 of the way through. If you're looking for a avant garde film shot in B&W, give one of his films a try. Even his first film, Stranger Than Paradise, is great. I've shared too much, sorry. thanks.

Love your videos! You explain the reasons you like or don't like a book so well. You actually got me into reading romance. I didn't use to until I read some that you recommended and I have liked reading romance but like you I can't read too many together. Lol. I need to read other types of books too like thrillers etc. I am so happy that I can enjoy a romance now I usually read one or two a month now! I'm reading Red, White,and Royal Blue currently because of you. I love Taylor Jenkins Reid because of you!!! I'm reading The Immortalists because of you, The Heart's Invisible Furies, and Christina Lauren! This will be my second book by them. Also, Colleen Hoover and All Your Perfects! I'm a huge fan of that book. I had two miscarriages and I now suffer from infertility. I do have a 9 year old daughter so I'm very lucky but it's still hard knowing I'll never be able to have any more children. Thanks so much for your videos and recommendations! I 💙 u!

Can you please tell me what is the ending of the friend zone. Im not sure I’d want to go through all that if the end is not good. Don’t mind the spoilers tbh 🙈 also have heard that fix her up is good and the romance is top notch so I’m excited to see your review
@gabbyreads5 жыл бұрын
Mehrr (spoiler warning) well basically the entire book is about how she has to get her uterus removed because of cysts on her uterus and they explain how it’s nearly impossible for her to get pregnant, and she says she’s never once used protection during sex because there’s never been a point, at the end of the book she goes to the doctor and they tell her she’s four months pregnant and she didn’t even know, and she got pregnant after the FIRST time she had sex with the love interest Josh. So she somehow just magically gets pregnant even though she was basically infertile??? And then the author kills off one of their best friends just to teach the main characters a life lesson which was bull shit. In the authors note she says the story “isn’t about her getting pregnant, it’s about her accepting herself the way she is” and I think the story should reflect that then? Instead of giving people this false hope of actually getting pregnant even though it was dangerous for her to even keep her uterus that long. I could go on but it was just such bull shit.
@mehrr78935 жыл бұрын
gabbyreads thankyou for responding! I totally agree with you. I’m gonna pass bc this is really stupid and I absolutely hate when authors do that and like for whaaaat?! Makes the entire plot irrelevant.

Dang, you really hyped up Top Secret, now I gotta take a look at it Also would like to point out, I don't think you should say it's two men on the cover of I Wish You All the Best since that character is non-binary. I've seen the author talk a bit on twitter about not using those terms for them

Aren't those characters non-binary? Meaning there aren't actually "men" on the cover?

Hey, no hate meant - but you read Mason Deaver’s book and misgendered the main character by saying there are “two men on the cover.” I understand you mentioned in the vlog it was the first non binary character you’ve read about, but please take what you learned from the novel and work to accurately use the gender pronouns of the individual characters you discuss.
