Hardest part for me is letting go of Gerard. The character development and his whole setup really had me invested in him as the protagonist, ESPECIALLY that last boss fight before the one year timeskip that ends his prologue. Afterward his personality seems to have leaked out, not having much to say or anything unique to express as things happen. Surely a symptom of the game making things easy for the multiple choice of emperors and empresses, but it was jarring to see Gerard kinda devolve like that between two cutscenes.

Thank you for great tips! I will teach everyone usable spells to heal and martial arts in secondary weapon slot to self heal during battles. Also , I do start games in casual mode first to enjoy story and learn abilities in easier way of focus. Next game plus , I will upgrade to next higher level and etc....as this game is definitely repeatable playthroughs. Plus , starting casual level gives myself better idea on future strategy playthroughs with my emperor/empress and team for higher gameplay levels when comes to weapons, spells and always using martial arts in secondary weapon slots for everyone. Martial arts is huge useful benefit of hard hitting with higher skills and self healing. ❤

Another tip I would throw out is to be judicious in your use of crafting materials. A lot of materials, like Silver, Obsidian, Meteorite, etc. are pretty rare and you'll only see one lying around once in a while, or occasionally for sale in random shops for a nonimal fee (maybe as a drop if you are super lucky). Decide ahead of time what gear you REALLY want to craft or upgrade and choose what you really need first. It can be a bit troubling to run out of materials when you finally get that next development slot... I do actually like this method of crafting as opposed to the original game, where you had to keep walking in and out of the smithy and hope the NPCs would be struck by inspiration to create a RANDOM piece of gear for a sizeable chunk of money. At least now you have some control over the process, and it's quite a bit harder to get the best gear early on by maxing your upgrades each generation.

My understanding is the stronger your enemy is/higher level they are compared to you the more likely you are to glimmer.
@andrewhegstrom21873 ай бұрын
Seems like they accounted for that with how bright the bulb is against an enemy/encounter. Sometimes the bulb will go away after a higher BR foe is dead and sometimes not. RS2 had some really interesting math though for setting BR, encounters needed for time skip, and how tech level affects glimmering.
@Sector6UK3 ай бұрын
Yeah the rarer enemies definitely seem to give the opportunity to Glimmer much more often and faster.
@Shuukuriimudaisuki-sama3 ай бұрын
It should also be noted that some characters of a given class are simply not able to glimmer certain techs, as well. For example, just because all the Male Mercs start with high levels in Greatsword does not mean that all of them are able to glimmer, say, Waterfowl Blade - certain ones can, certain ones can't. Just as each individual iteration's stats are different, their learnable tech pools differ, too.
@andrewhegstrom21873 ай бұрын
@Shuukuriimudaisuki-sama true. Each character has a Type that determines what moves they can spark. (Type 7 cannot spark any). The game is generous in that you can look at current moves and see if they can spark to a higher move or not.

I am having so much fun with this game and I want to play it blind as much as possible so I don’t wanna look things up, but either I am not paying enough attention to context clues or this game does a bad job at implying when you get new classes or enter a timeskip. I missed out on the Martial Artist because I got greedy with beating enemies, fair enough. But I missed out on the Corsair because I went to their village by ship, when literally nothing implied taking the route via the caves was necessary to recruit Henrique. So far I have only gotten the Crusader from the Cumberland plotline and have beaten only one hero while I’m already on my third emperor. That just frustrates me to no end, no matter how much fun I’m having otherwise.
@Sector6UK3 ай бұрын
Yeah I've been working around this by having multiple saves and if a timeskip happens causing me to miss something or if I take the wrong approach I reload. It's definitely a trial and error system for me having never played the older versions of it, but it seems to work very similar to them.
@glennjordan50573 ай бұрын
I missed out of the pirates too. But with the martial artists I returned and they challenged me to a 1v1 since I beat the monster. After beating them I got access to them in the next generation.

You don’t have to worry about characters in your party losing all their LP. You won’t lose the class if they die, they just get replaced by another character of the same class. You will have to go back to a bar to add them to your party again. You mainly want to focus on keeping the Emperor alive above all else since deaths add time to that generation and after enough Emperor Deaths the story will skip to the next generation.
@Nonfatproduct2 ай бұрын
Good job. Sadly I knew all that lol 😂 what I’m curious is things like ~ what weapons are good for what classes and attributes? And what determines if a weapon tech can glimmer new things? Some of my guys can learn something from Mince but not someone else and only thing I can think of is the magics you know? Does your exp get split between all used weapons n magics after a fight? Is it better to use just on to level it faster ?
@LaLtheGaL2 ай бұрын
Nice video. This is my first time coming across your channel. I'm gonna check out your other videos for sure. I was wondering if you could help me understand two things. I am likely overthinking things. First, I just found out that "grinding" is bad. I don't typically grind in games if I can avoid it, but I do like to explore every nook and cranny, which means I will be battling all the enemies in a dungeon, or down that off-beaten path. Is this going to make the game impossibly hard eventually? Second, can you shed some more light on time skips? I'm only in my third generation (after Gerard). I have a bunch of quests available to me, such as the Mermaid quest (I love anything to do with the ocean), the Cumberland quest (seems super important story wise), and a quest in the Nomad Village (which looks like it might unlock a cool class).... all these quests feel like they will trigger a time skip. Does that mean I have to choose one and lose out on doing the other two?
@Sector6UK2 ай бұрын
Thanks for dropping by and welcome! Grinding can be bad yeah, the more fights you have the more chance of rarer, stronger enemies showing up there is. I tend to fight what I have to and sneak by what I can sneak by and I haven't really had any issues with being too weak. Yeah, time skips can be rough. I've killed a few quests by triggering a time skip and then locking myself out of the quest. I'm trying to do a video where I show how to recruit all classes and this alone is making it difficult. My best suggestion is have multiple saves so you can go back to a save if you do lock yourself out of a quest. Also, try to complete quests as they pop up so you don't have too many stacked up, therefore reducing the risk of skipping any. But it's something that is definitely going to happen, or at least I haven't figured out how to protect myself entirely from time skips messing with my plans, lol Second runs are there for a reason though!
@LaLtheGaL2 ай бұрын
@@Sector6UK Thank you for your reply! I decided to go back a bit and load an earlier save. This time, I’m focusing on finishing a quest I started before exploring further. Before my save, I had a lot of quests in progress, many of which seemed like they would trigger a time skip. I get the sense that once you start a quest and a time skip occurs, you might lose access to that quest. However, if you haven’t started it yet, you can still pick it up after the time skip. I’m sure this doesn’t apply to all quests, but it’s likely true for many of them.
@pinnacletricks3 ай бұрын
Good video mate. Do you know if there is anything missable through the time skips? I can't seem to figure out what determines the skips, and I don't want to miss any quests.
@Sector6UK3 ай бұрын
I'm going to do a video on it soon I think, but events have different weighting and cause timeskips once you've done a set amount of events. My best advice is to have multiple saves and if a timeskip happens and a quest disappears, reload and change the order you do things. Thats what I've been doing, I'm gonna try put a timeskip guide together though over the next few days, I think the numbers behind it are the same or similar to the original Romancing Saga 2.

The LP system felt very familiar to me and i couldnt recall why until i remembered the first game i ever played. "Beyond the Beyond" had a similar system with VP (Vitality Points) being standard HP and LP (Life Points being a harder HP limit. You had less LP than VP but it was harder to damage your LP. Enemies could have particularly strong attacks that hit your LP but mainly you lost it after being targeted while already downed (0 VP) VP was recovered with items and revives. LP was recovered with a trip to church to ask for a costly revival prayer.

thanks sir! if you can help me understand how to strike a balance between encounter count vs getting stronger. like how can you get those good skills but not fighting a lot to trigger difficult enemies? is that even possible 😅
@Shuukuriimudaisuki-sama3 ай бұрын
You don't need to worry too much about it, unlike in most SaGa games. The major change here is that battle rank does make enemies tougher, but it's literally just a scaling of their stats. In other games in the series, battle rank increasing means fighting totally different enemies, which bring new moves to the table and may have defense you are not prepared for. This time around, you will always see the same enemies in a given area. Want to learn sword techs? Get someone skilled with swords and hang out in a place with some enemies weak to swords. Shouldn't have too much trouble, as long as you aren't trying to glimmer axe techs on a mage or something 😂 Also, as far as staying alive goes, I strongly recommend getting used to combat by using the Imperial Cross formation and putting a one-handed sword user in the front slot, and equipping them with a buckler (small shield) and have them abuse Parry (a Heavy Infantryman is perfect for this in the early game, especially once they get Auto-Parry). This will make it VERY unlikely that any physical attack will actually hit them, between the blocking with Parry and the Buckler's chance of just straight up negating damage. This way, the rest of your party can fight in relative safety.

question about that quest you talked about, so would it be beneficial to do the optional stuff to get the thief but then just go through the front door anyway to get the most chance for "XP" or is that not important?

I think for experience, you can always revisit various areas that respawn monsters. But personally, I have found it beneficial to explore each route to make sure I get all the chests and collectables. Those seem to be a once and done thing.
