Stamped arsenals aren’t anything special. Their Milled receivers are where it’s at. Sure you know that.

tim KC exactly. When ppl trash Arsenal, or say a certain rifle is better than an Arsenal, they are always referring to their stamped AK. I would choose a lot of stamped AKs over arsenals, but the Sam7 is in my opinion, probably either the number 1 or number 2 best AK on the American market

Of all the AKs I've handled both the Polish and the East German ones were always the best build quality with the fewest machining marks and smoothest actions. East German mags by far have the most crisp stampings, cleanest spot welds and best bluing of all steel AK mags.

Fit and finish of the polish wbp fox, lynx or mini Jack, is great. Just something about having another import and its proven polish ak building techniques, the reliability of these are great. To mention the lynx and mini Jack running under $700, gives it another plus, but my opinion these prices wont last long once people start realizing the quality of these polish imports. Got to give props to the Cugir arsenal, they also make a reliable gun as well, great starter gun, good price, they have more years of proven success than the polish WBP as misha stated. If I had to choose, I'd be all over the fox, as a collector, it ads another country of origin import to our collections, the quality, and theres just not that many of them. I like the WASR set up like that with the palm swell handguards and East German MPiKMS-72 style wire side-folder. It's as close to a Soviet Bloc AKM as you'll find for the money. Just wish they had the mag dimples dang it! lol! Regards, Misha

Great video! I own a Russian SGL-21, a Bulgarian SLR107cr (cut down) and a Polish WBP Lynx Classic (pistol). The WBP Lynx is the smoothest of them. It's a very nice and tight build, but the WBP’s paint instantly began rubbing off. Not a big deal at all to me but I could see that being annoying to some. All 3 run perfect. Been thinking about getting one of their Foxes.

I would choose so many other stamped AKs over arsenals. I would always go zastava for stamped over other brands bc I absolutely love my zastava AKs. But my Arsenal Sam7 is my pride and joy. The Sam7 is either the number 1 or number 2 AK on the American market

Wow! Jay! That's really saying something when you say the fox is smoother than a vepr! I can honestly say I feel the vepr to be smoother and nicer in everyway to every ak varient I have. While the fox is probably the only example of an ak I do not own, I find it a tall task to overcome the smoothness of a vepr just because it is at a whole different level compared to all others. Just might have to add a fox to the coral.

The fox is a great rifle but the one I bought from Atlantic had a shitty brake. Basically a fighter brake but like 3 times the weight. The WBP polycarbonate mag that came with it also didn’t fit. I tried to file the rear lug down some but it still won’t lock immediately in either my Fox or Saiga. All my other mags fit perfectly in both.

Well the US brake isn't anything to do with WBP. As for your mag issue? that's odd. Jay and i both have been running their mags for over a year without issue. You have the translucent green one right?

Misha Yep. I did some filing on the bottom of the rear lug, but I still have to rock it back and forth a few times to get it to lock.

I think whenever they tool up for an election year, cugir goes a little lower in QC and general beauty marks on their rifles. I never see people selling 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, or 2019 WASRs on the second hand market because those years just look a little nicer in my opinion. but no matter the year as long as it's 2013 or newer then it's good to go and anything people complain about is usually very cosmetic.

All CAI does is to install the buttstock, pistol grip, and FCG. Also they open the magwell and pop the weld off the muzzle nut. So no, nothing much to worry over as they don't touch the trunnion or bolt.

Austria revised its gun laws and is only just now starting to import AKs. I thought about getting a Russian one at first, but there's simply no real incentive to do so, other than getting it as a collectible. Because even here SAIGA stuff starts at around 1,800, while WBP, Cugir, Norinco and so on stay well below 1,000.

It's kinda funny how it all starts up. You first get a WASR because everything else seems too expensive. Then you start eyeballing Arsenals at double the price. You go on specific AK forums and start asking about build kits and which RPK you should look into. A year later that PSL starts nagging you and you feel sorry you don't have one in your collection. Yeah, it all starts with that thought the WASR is a better buy because of the price. 5 years later you realize your kid has no money for college.

They come in as pretty small batches, kind of like the CSA Vz.58s. I am sure batches will come in for 2020 though. So just patience + be ready to jump on one when they show up.

Personally? unconverted Saigas don't do much for me, and to convert one right you'll end up spending $100s. At that point, might as well get an SGL21. I think the milled Arsenals are great. Perfect? no but what is in this world?

A Russian gat converted by an amiture...sorry just seen too many messed up Saiga conversions in my life. Its easy to do a half assed conversion, but its very difficult to do a full SGL quality job.

Probably never, at least not an authentic one. WBP uses barrels from FB-Radom, and those are AKM profile. The AK T3 used its own, heavier profile. I think if we see a milled gun from WBP, it will be an AKM except for the receiver....so kind of similar to how Arsenal bended the AK74 and AK T3 to make teir ARM series, which became our SAM7 line.

My AK is a WASR 10. I wanted a service-grade 'issue' rifle, and it 's exactly what I wanted. I understand the earlier hate was because of poor work in opening the mag well. Mine evidently came in after Century got its act together.

Since I have no interest in collecting AKs, I'd only want one to use occasionally. However, the prices are so high today (~$1000 for a pretty bare bones example), I find that for the same price, or just a bit more, there are many frankly better options e.g. something more modern with better ergonomics. I'd rather save a bit more and get a BREN or a nice AR. They have kind of priced me out of the market. Sure, I'd pick one up for $400-550 just as a toy, but not at nearly $1000.
