From Sunday to Sunday - do you remember what you ate or did last Sunday? Neither than will "one" time in the word of God, or "one hour" hearing a sermon, do much to move the needle. God wants your total immersion, a full baptism all the time, total commitment.

It’s good to hear a sermon that is straight and biblically based with nothing added. I hope this continues in this church. We have so many churches preaching error, and a social Gospel that they have went astray from the path of Christ to self indulgence. May G-d the father and our Lord Jesus Christ keep us from deception and false theology. Amen

this is a great exposition - the gospel is not "bad or negative news". Sure you must know that you are a sinner, but only condemned if you stay that way. Following Jesus isn't like following a religious order of impossible rules. Close your eyes and go back half a century ago, when pitchers completed games. Imagine a fella who goes 15 innings, scoreless, 0-0 keeps his team in the game. Then gives up one run (on an error no less) and loses the game. That's disheartening and discouraging, yet that is what we do, when we try to work our way to heaven, and trust me, many of us don't come close to pitching a shutout.Thanks be to God the work was done for us. The papers for release, the bail paid, the prisoner set free all in the work of Christ. Not only that, the prisoner is given a job of pay with importance, how great is our God?

At 17:30 in the audio Paul says " called to be saints". I somehow get confused, is he talking to just them or all of us gentiles?
@DavidGuzikEnduringWord2 жыл бұрын
Paul was first speaking to the saints in Rome, the Christians in Rome, but there principle applies to every Christian. Christians can rightly be called "saints" because they are set apart for God.

Pastor, I need clarification please...do you believe Jesus is the "sun" - referring to min 7:48 here in this teaching...?
@DavidGuzikEnduringWord3 күн бұрын
Pastor Lance replies - Pastor David clarified what he meant in the video. "Sun" is euphemistic for "that which around everything revolves." Of course, Pastor David knows this is English and Romans was written in Greek. He's being "homiletic" here.

David, I heard you say in a KZbin that you are working on a Bible with your commentary. When will it be ready for purchase? Thank you!
@davidsantacruz6981 Жыл бұрын
I was following along nearly 100% with the sermon until the "righteous shall live by faith" was interpreted as being a work we conjure up within ourselves. if faith is the same as believing real hard, walking rightly, or trusting in God, wouldn't Paul have stopped right there after verse 17 and asked the readers to trust in Jesus as their savior? seriously. no one had ever told the Roman believers to do that so why didn't Paul do it at this juncture (or ever in his letter for that matter)? with that in mind, why does pastor David do it here when the text wouldn't lead any rational reader to do that? this is very confusing
@janeecejjf20018 ай бұрын
The people Paul is writing to are already Christians. So they’ve already believed and trusted in Jesus as their Savior. So there was no reason for Paul to ask them that. Here Paul is telling them that faith should expound to all things. The way to share in the righteousness of God is by faith. Paul is saying and says more about this in chapter 4 that there is nothing, no good work that we can do to be counted righteous. That comes by faith in God. If you look in Romans chapter 4 vs 3-5, Paul says 3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Where he mentions Abraham, he’s mentioning what was first said in Genesis 15:6 speaking of Abraham: And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness. Paul goes into this again in Galatians. Many Christians then and even today feel like they’re not going to make it because every day we fall short of the Glory of God. And that’s because we’re depending on ourselves and trying to do good. But doing good deeds isn’t what saves you or accounts as righteousness. Only faith can do that. That being said, James says that faith without works is dead. We can never do good works on our own. We’ll fail ourselves every time. But God never fails. That’s why Proverbs 3:6 says In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Pastor David only expounded on Paul’s meaning. I hope this helps answer your question.

You say Paul had never been to Rome. Didn't he claim to be a Roman citizen?
@DavidGuzikEnduringWord10 ай бұрын
Yes, Paul was a Roman citizen, but the Roman Empire and its influence were spread all throughout the region, surrounding nearly the entire Mediterranean by Paul's time. Paul would have gained citizenship not by visiting or coming from the city of Rome itself, but by birth, as he and his parents were from Tarsus, the capital of the Roman province of Cilicia. His parents were possibly involved in aiding/administrating this province for the Empire, or perhaps bought or were awarded their citizenship. In any case, this privilege was passed onto Paul at birth, despite being many thousands of miles from the capital city of Rome.

Steven, it is not an effort of trying. We just don't have it in us as souls living in flesh. It is a DECISION to do it based on His power to do it in us. This may sound like double speak, but it is the faith that He gives us that saves us, not the weak and insufficient faith that we muster up on our own. I hope this helps. I am praying for you!
@janeecejjf20018 ай бұрын
Hi Steven, your comment was a year ago. I hope you’re doing well. With us trying on our own, we set ourselves up for failure. Start by drawing closer to Jesus every day. Read the Word daily, and study what you read. I come to Pastor Guzik’s videos every night after reading. For instance, tonight I read Romans chapter 1. So I came here afterwards because David has a way of explaining what you just read and making it come to life almost as if we’re witnessing it in real time. So start with that and talking to the Lord daily. All day. I don’t mean you have to spend all day in prayer. Certainly start and end your day with that, but also talk to Him throughout your day. Acknowledging Him in all that you do, not only pleases Him, but reminds you that He’s right there with you at all times. And as you draw closer to Him, everything else just comes naturally because the Holy Spirit flows through you. Proverbs 3:6 says In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
