Romans 12 calls those who are now in Christ are no more condemned and able turn over to a new way of life to follow Christ. How are we to live a way of life in the exactly same environment? There are millions of issues that we are confronted with and how do we make sense of them and apply our ways of life differently. Each situation and person we encounter is unique in its own way and varies from moment to moment. How do we deal with them differently from our past walking with God? It's right to say that we must follow Christ, but how? It's to read the bible and renew our minds. But all who read the bible see the messages from every directions and conflicting understanding and views. All see the same situation with 100 different understandings and ways to handle them. Which is the right way or Christ's way? For example, We are taught to love our enemies and at the same time, we are also taught to dust our sandals to walk away and never to return. At what point do we walk away from the people around us and dust our sandals? We are taught not to participate in evil, but every endeavour that we participate in at work, the work flows are intertwined with evils by the mission of the company, the bosses, colleagues and counterparts. We may at our best endeavours to do no evil, but the entire process is filled with the evil intentions to manipulate and to a certain extent to defraud others. Do we continue to participate in that grand scheme to defraud others or do do continue to work in that organisation, by avoiding as much as we can in our small parts not to do evil, but the bigger intent is to defraud? We can't not to work to earn a living. For example you work for a government to a company making goods or providing services, all are flawed with schemes to do evils at varying degrees. Yeah, we can justify we don't do evil in our small parts, but the entire processes of the government or companies can't be good. We are living in a fallen world remember. Anything that we do can't be good. In theories, we know what we ought to do. By in application, how do we avoid doing evil? How to live in abusive arrangement and toxic relationship? This is just hard to live our lives as taught in Romans 12. When we drill down deeper to deal with the details, it becomes very confusing and extremely difficult how to deal with every situation and people. 😢
