Ooooo fun! I'm so glad you're here. The podcast was my heart for nearly 3yrs before this and to be honest, I miss teaching like that. I didn't expect to be recording and editing and doing 5-6 videos a week on here lol... MY PLAN was to simply continue once a week podcast. God had other plans. But hold on, those kinds of teaching are not gone!!!

this letter has established that every single person is guilty of sin and does not deserve God's forgiveness. Whether we know God's law explicitly, or not, we still fail to obey. Only faith in Christ can rescue us from the penalty we deserve for that sin. Romans 4 explores the example of Abraham, and God's amazing gift of declaring Abraham righteous solely on the basis of his faith. This declaration was given many years before Abraham was circumcised, causing Abraham to become the father of all who believe God by faith. Abraham's continued faith in God is a model for us. Romans will continue by exploring how Christ brings us peace with God.

God will declare us righteous, as well, if by faith we believe in the God who delivered Jesus to die for our sins and raised Him back to life for our justification.

How do I start from the beginning to study all that you have done ?

Wow! What an honor for you to ask that! You can simply scroll back through the videos, or if you're just looking for the Bible Study ones only, each book of the Bible is in a playlist (on my channel, you will see an option by the videos that says PLAYLIST). I've only done Matthew, Acts, and now Romans so far. Here's the playlist for Matthew (I hope this helps): kzbin.info/aero/PLxru35G5g4pcrsjA6I4JUHMod8qnl8EFb&si=eFmIMjuL2i0KjZOA

they traded in the glory of God for images. It’s a reversal. Instead of man created in God’s image, it’s a god created in man’s image. Or maybe an animal’s image. It’s called idolatry, but it’s more than just ancient people carving gods out of wood and stone, it is any replacement for God: money, pleasure, power, even yourself. Any time we let go of the immortal Creator and design a lesser god according to our desires, that is idolatry. Paul says: “They exchanged the truth about God for a lie” (1:25).

Romans 4:1-12 focuses on the faith of Abraham, referenced by Paul to further his case about faith. God only declares people righteous based on their faith in Him. David, as well, describes those against whom God will not count their sin as ''blessed.'' Paul insists that this blessing of being declared righteous by God is available to both the circumcised and the uncircumcised. After all, God declared Abraham righteous long before he was circumcised. In that way, he became the spiritual father of both the believing Gentiles and the believing Jews.

God essentially promised Abraham and his offspring "the world," in a sense. Can that promise be claimed by keeping the law? Paul says no. For one thing, the promise was given centuries before the law existed. If law-keeping was required for the promise, then Abraham's most immediate descendants would have been left out! Second, nobody can keep the law. This is a point Paul was careful to make very clearly in chapter 3. If receiving the promise depends on keeping the law, the promise is useless and so is faith. No, God's promises to Abraham's offspring will be received by faith (Romans 4:13-19).

Abraham couldn't have obeyed the law because it wasn't given to Moses until generations later! ALSO, I think his faith did waver when he agreed with Sarah to take Hagar as his wife... How do we reconcile that with what Paul is saying here?
