Has God's Word failed because Israel are not currently saved? No, because God's children are through faith not natural descent or works. Whoever receives Christ, the Promised One, by faith are Abraham's children whether a Jew or Gentile. ROMANS 9 summed up in 3 sentences.

Wow, I cannot thank you enough for this teaching. I read Romans 9 and totally saw it in the wrong light. I prayed, with tears in my eyes, asking God to show me what he really meant by this chapter because I knew that the premise of him selecting some and not others completely went against what I believed in my heart about his love and what scripture taught. This teaching really opened my eyes to what the Lord was saying. Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the time to teach this and put it out there for us to see ❤️

This chapter hits me in the heart in so many ways: the first is that I’m lucky enough to be adopted or ‘grafted’ into the kingdom by my faith and that I actually have been found by Jesus in spite of my family being spiritual if not actual genetic canaanites. Paul is so amazing! It breaks my heart that not my husband nor anyone in my family can see clearly all the evidence that supports our faith. It’s kind of the same with the world and seeing through propaganda. I’m glad at least my husband can see that now but when it comes to his eternal soul he is still too dubious. Please pray for him.

For every one verse supporting reformed or calivinist theology - there are 10 that go against it. If 9 out of 10 verses support something - why would someone want to believe in the 1 out 10 verses? This guy did a good job but Leighton Flowers is the best.

WOW! The explanation on this video was amazing and made so much sense. I always struggled understanding this chapter because my interpretation of it was incorrect. It was my incorrect interpretation of it vs God's true character; Knowing God's character and his goodness I knew that who he is was clashing with how I was understanding this chapter. You broke it down in such an amazing way that shows the way I see his character is so true and fault is in the way I was reading it. It's like in my head as I read it I'm like (Lord the way I'm understanding this doesn't sound like who you really are so I know I'm missing it). Thank you so much, Our God is gracious, merciful, and simply amazing. Blessings.

Remember the apostle was seeing and feeling with Gods love. Simply by telling of his love and concern for Israel and how he grieved for them. It was with the love of God she’d abroad in his heart. Philippians chapter 2 verse 3 says “Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves.” Verse 5 “Let this mind be in you, which was in Christ Jesus.” These verses are not as it were lip service but these things is what our Savior felt. He was lowly in heart and humbled himself. And the esteeming others better than yourself is an actual experience for the believer; it happens when one is filled with the Holy Spirit.

Paul already dealt with what qualifies us for salvation. He’s not addressing that here. It comes up here only because there is no other way of salvation, so in a text that’s clearly soteriological, faith is necessarily included but it’s not the focus. Verse 6 tells us what he’s addressing here. He’s answering the objection that the word of God has failed because the Jews by and large have rejected the Messiah. The short answer is “for they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel.” He then goes at length unpacking that statement for 3 chapters while also answering further objections that come up along the way.

In the context of Romans 9 and the throwback to Essau and Jacob however, elect is referring to who God chose to carry the bloodline to messiah (Israel/Jacob) and contrasting that to his choice of using the gentiles to pass on the Gospel. @Ryan Rufus. Great video. One thing I would change is your interpretation of verse 6. Verses 6-13 is all about lineage. Verse 6 states “…not all who are descended from Israel are Israel”. Israel (Jacob) was the father of the 12 tribes. All 12 tribes were unified until the death of Solomon. Once he died, the nation of Israel split into 2 kingdoms. 10 tribes in the North with the capital of Samaria and 2 tribes (Judah and Benjamin) in the South with the capital in Jerusalem. The Northern kingdom was exceedingly wicked. Eventually God judged them and brought about their destruction by the Assyrians. The remnant that remained in the north intermarried with pagan people and continued in idolatry. When the exiles of Judah and Benjamin returned from their Babylon under Cyrus they no longer viewed those “Samaritans” as being Jews. Chapter 9 of Romans was written to Jews (Paul started in chapter 7, and stayed with this audience till Romans 11:13). These Jews were aware that there were 10 tribes of Israel that had already been cut off from the promise. Telling them that the promise had been given to all of Israel, but some of Israel had already lost it due to unfaithfulness wasn’t contentious.

This chapter clearly states what the words actually say. 9:11 “though they have not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad-in order that God’s election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls.”God does not rely on our decisions to bring salvation and to become sons and daughters through adoption from the sacrifice of his only begotten son Jesus Christ. For he is almighty, all powerful, all knowing, and omnipresent and has no limitations. For he calls us to himself he’s the one who opens our hearts by his Holy Spirit. He does this so we may not boast in our choices and actions we take for he hates pride which brings less glory to him. For he is the potter and we are the clay and he made us who we are. There is no glory to bring unto ourselves for we’re dead in our sin and through God comes the resurrection. For he breathed life into us and now we our his elected which means his chosen! We are not to lean on our own understanding but trust in God and not question God’s perfect will. Who are we to do that it says that right there in 9:20. I rebuke this teaching…. It may feel good to hear but we cannot lean on our own feelings but trust in Gods perfect will. Amen

I have a couple questions, where do you draw the conclusion that hated means love less? Is that just your own conclusion or do you have documentation for this? The only other translation I find is rejected. And what is your response to Hebrew 12:17 ? Doesn’t this show the blessing wasn’t physical as you suggest but rather spiritual? And where do you draw this lottery idea from? Wouldn’t God electing mean he chooses instead of random chance of lottery? And wouldn’t those who are hardened as you say then not seek to be chosen since they’re hardened towards God? Then your whole idea of “ you better hope you’ve been chosen “ wouldn’t apply

Hate in the context of Romans 9 means not chosen, not preferred. No doubt. Just like the Lord saying if you don't HATE your father, mother, wife, brothers, sisters for my sake, you don't deserve Me. Paraphrase. Clearly He didn't mean hate. He meant prefer, prioritize. The Bible says love your wife, yet the Lord said hate your wife for my sake? Think, think about it. If God hated Esau, John:16 cannot be true or "God is love". We need to calm down.

So much mental gymnastics here. So much cognitive dissonance looking to be relieved because yeah, it IS bad. Everyone below thinking they "interpreted" it wrong. As if it needed "interpreting." If God wanted to say it your way nothing was stopping him. It's quite clear and it's gross, and I want nothing to do with a person or God or anything acting like that. You never did explain away the word hate. He didn't just say hey I'm gonna buck the system and put the younger in charge. He said HATE. If he wanted to just say it's not about pedigree he could have said that. It wasn't a riddle. It's jarringly, disturbingly clear. And even you say wellllll ok sooooometimes he does things like this (vessels of wrath fitted for destruction/dishonor), but just not universally so. First, that's an assumption on your part. Second, doing it some of the time would still be gross. Y'all can have this god, but count me out.

Empty rhetoric that sounds very pious in giving God the credit for salvation all the while retaining a self-determined fate counter the entire thrust of Romans 8, 9, 10 and 11. God did not just choose the mechanism of grace or the nations through which Christ would come, Ephesians 1 tells us, along with Romans 8 that we, individually were chosen. This supposed condition of faith upends what Paul really intends, namely that God acts uncaused, that his mercy is unconditional that he loves unconditionally. We are not loved on condition of our faith but before we were ever born, God decide to either love me or not. This is the scandal… in your version, there’s no real scandal, faith makes it plain that there is a reason that God can save or damn.. mystery resolved scandal done away with! No, faith will not do as the explanation of why Pauls point was universally offensive… God’s prerogative and rule over the history of man and his guarantee of a remnant seems unfair… you simply cannot account for the data present in Romans 9.

If Paul is trying to teach an Arminian view of election in Romans 9, by which, in the final analysis, a person's election is based upon that person meeting some kind of condition, so that in the final analysis salvation is on you and what you have done, and another person hasn't done, who would raise any objection about God being unfair in election and involving an unrighteousness in God? That view of election would seem manifestly fair. Yet the apostle Paul does anticipate the response that there is unrighteousness in God. And what is the teaching that engenders that response? It is the teaching that election is unconditional. It's when you're teaching that election rests ultimately, exclusively, on the sovereign Will of God and not on the performance or actions of human beings that the protest arises. ‭Romans 9:14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Certainly not! May it never be. God forbid. ‭Romans 9:15-18 [15] For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.” [16] So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy. [17] For the Scripture says to the Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.” [18] Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens.

This guy's off, many don't like that God saves whoever he desires. And that even faith is a gift, and yes, he doesn't give it to others As hard as it is the Bible simply declares it. He raised up Pharaoh to demonstrate his power. He wants to show all his attributes and sin came into the world ( not accidentally ) for all of his attributes to be put on display. No sin, no mercy, grace, love, Holiness, judgement, wrath shown. As hard as it is, it's not too hard to figure it out. People want God to be the way they think he should be, not the Sovereign God over people and their wills and everything. Not on Human will. This guy is tearing this apart, he's absolutely off here.

@HopeOfChrist NOT of him who wills nor of him who runs, but of God, who has mercy. No man CAN come to me unless it has been granted by the Father. JOHN 6:65. ALL the Father GIVES ME WILL come to me. JOHN 6:37a. You do not believe ( why ? ) because you are not of my sheep. JOHN 10:26 ( before faith ) ROMANS 3:10-11 BY nature, None seek after God no, not one. And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the Word of the Lord, and as many as had been appointed to Eternal life, believed. ACTS 13:48. God's in complete control. who were born not of blood, nor the will of the flesh, nor the will of man, but of God. JOHN 1:13

@@timdodenhoff7942 Romans 10:9 Because, if YOU confess with YOUR mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in YOUR heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:13 For “everyone who CALLS on the name of the Lord will be saved. Mark 16:16 WHOSOEVER believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And finally this verse blows the calvanist doctrine away. When asked how are we saved, the answer wasn't, well God saves whoever he wishes, you vant fight it, youre saved wither you like it or not, and then sends the rest to hell, wither they like or not. Nope, this is what the verse says.👇 Acts 16:30-31 Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household. Which means you have free will to either choose salvation or reject it. You're reading but you don't understand, typical calvanist mindset. God isn't tyrant, stop misrepresenting Him. John Calvin was wrong about how men are saved.

@HopeOfChrist by nature we all reject it, sure you must belive, you must repent. But repentance and faith are both gifts of God. 2 Timothy 2:24-26, PHILIPPIANS 1:29. DO you believe ACTS 13:48? GRACE is that God does it all. It is by His doing you are in Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 1:30. And this is NOT of yourselves ( at all ) it is the gift of God. ( Entirely ) The text of ROMANS 9 is plain, vessels of wrath and vessels of mercy to show God's attributes at judgement day. Ask yourself, why did we inherit a God hating sin loving nature? Romans 5:12 Could God have prevented it? Sure, he could have, but didn't. And why will most Perish. MATTHEW 7:13-14? GOD'S is in complete control.

@@timdodenhoff7942 That's ridiculous and I'm not going to waste my time talking to someone who believes God is a murderer. Romans 9 doesn't support the calvanist doctrine, that doctrine isn't found in scripture at all. You don't understand the bible, because instead of relying on the Holy Spirit to teach you, you're relying on John Calvin, a man who clearly didn't understand the God he claimed to believe in. The bible says, It is not the intention of God that ANY man should perish, but that ALL should come to Christ. That's His desire, of course not all would come, because some (by their own will), would reject Him, but He desires all to be saved. God didn't create some men just to send them to hell, that's absolutely ludicrous to think of God like that. And by saying that, you're calling God a hypocrite. Imagine, God is telling us to love one another, even our enemies and then turns around and hates man to the point that He deliberately sends some people into eternal death, for having done nothing btw, He just made it that way, isn't that a foolish doctrine?. You think that's the good news of Jesus Christ?. That's wickedness and disgusting twisting of the Gospel. So, you can continue believing in John Calvin's version of God, I prefer to believe in the true and living God, the God who IS love, who gave Himself for the redemption of humanity. The God who says, whosoever will, let him come.
