I personally think the reason why it is like this is because people find it absurd that there are no watches available in ADs but the grey market is FLOODED with "difficult" to find expensive watches. It's like people already giving up on that dream of buying a great watch simply because they realize that the supply chain is clearly manipulated by ADs and the gray market.

Sad but true, recently I just got a starbucks for retail. However, in order for me to get that starbucks for retail I had to get a 38200 lady date just. good present for the wife but I wish one day we can just get whatever you want without having to buy another watch with it.

Star Bucks was way up, but prices have come crashing down. That said, $25,000 profit is not profit. I have to fly to Dubai for beans every day and when I turn on the lights in my 28000 square foot warehouse, that costs me money. I also have to pay my assistant to check if my collar is folded. Hold on, I’m going to buy these gold plated beans for myself private collection.

Love seeing content that's built specifically to soften the barrier to entry. Horology is intoxicating and simplifying the complexities paves the way. Client stories, brand stories, history, education, revolutionary features, models and movements. Consumer behaviour is gravitating to authenticity for sure and the more we relate to the better. All this, and Kev hits me back in the DM's asap, ya think I'm going down to the local dealer to buy a watch?

At 24:45 Adrian asks, "you see that your industry is doing well. Do you make drastic changes to rock the boat, or do you sit and wait?" As NHL HoF player Wayne Gretsky answered on what made him so successful: "I didn't skate to the puck, but where the puck was going!" Rather then wait and do nothing for the rest of the year, probably best to do some trial marketing and see what works. For example, buy a watch at the LB price (assuming it is competitive), and get X% off your next purchase. Another idea, hold an open house in the lobby of LB on Black Friday. I just attended an open house at RGM watches and the place was packed with customers.

Some ideas you will implement right away and others you won’t but always have a list of brainstorming ideas. You will never know when you might need them. It’s ok to do something big and bold. I think the managing of expectations is important. It would be beneficial to map out what success looks like after big moves. Success at multiple levels. Also you need to map out the risks and assets involved. Measure, measure, measure. You can calculate success and expectations with data. Make a project charter. Lean six sigma.

From an economic standpoint, I'd advise to look at economic factors and how that impacts your specific business. In certain economic times you can expect growth and in other uncertain economic situations you may have to accept growth limits. Balance everything with that understanding. I know this doesn't help but I know little about the luxury watch industry, but I love watches. Try to define economic keypoints that could impact growth and set realistic goals with that in mind

Things are hard just now , no matter what industry you are in . I run my own business and over the last 7 years things have been super busy , but lately things have slowed down . People just dont have the same disposable income unless you are super rich and even at that , people are worried about the way things are going . Anthony didnt help your industry either and has probably put a lot of people off the grey market . You will make it through as you have a shrewd business sense and you are honest and fair . When times are hard people may not be buying but will be selling and so now is the good time to rebuild inventory just be more choosey about what you buy. Also become a supplier to the stars, that VIP seller that people want to buy into as much as your product. Get the musicians, sports stars, actors and other private high end clients. Keep them through service and exclusivity, they may not buy bulk what they do buy will keep you more than a float and they will come back.

To chime in for the question that got asked at the end: You have to go deeper in the markets instead of wide. Find out the demographics which see the most search intent and key word intent on their social media etc. It could be as specific as Multi-millionaire Twitch streamers and successful E-sports figures who tend to cop watches end of Q3 and throughout Q4, whether it be due to major tournaments and events having been wrapped up and victors celebrating their success and partying more, so they're trying to look for something to reward themselves with or flex. Whereas the rest of the market sees less movement from the consumer side of things. It could be that you're focusing too much on top billing references and neglecting the entry-mid levels which could buffer sales performances, so perhaps look at upping your passive sales game. Idk tho, hard to make legit recommendations without knowing the data for at least your last 2 years of sales at minimum.

In the tech industry there are the successfulll incumbents who don't want to change until 1000s of startups try to dirupt and 2-3 make it big focring everyone to change or die. I enjoy the channel and have learned a lot, but what sales sense does it make to announce to 412k followers that sales are bad and then want to negotiate with customers on the purchase price. Also was troubling to hear that fake watches are so good, only 1 person was able to recognize it was fake? I would want to have a better understanding of your process to authenticate a watch before buying one after hearing that. Again, like the content and learning the ‘insides baseball” look at the grey market watch business but just surprised how unfiltered it is. I have to give you credit for being so honest.

To Adrian: I think that everything is cyclical at the same time. It’s important to press hard and go full throttle at every single point of the cycle at the same time since the machine is so big, it’s nearly impossible for one company or one person to impact a whole industry in the sense of driving prices up and creating a huge demand. I think it’s important to recognize what part of the cycle we are in and continue going hard With moderate innovation.
