To me, this Touhou song has been way too overshadowed by it's the popular extra stage boss theme, and that's a shame because this theme is absolutely one of the best in EoSD and I wish it wasn't less popular, it ought to be _as_ popular in my eyes because ZUN did so well on this track. This is one of my favorite all time extra stage themes if not one of my top favorite Touhou themes, and the SC-88Pro version of this does the charm of the original theme justice, it's beyond fantastic. ^^

Agree, this song is simply oustanding, while U.N. Owen is... just good (and realy noisy) Also, I prefer this MIDI version. Not that the WAV is worse, is just taste.

I prefer the proper MIDI recording to the arranged version. Especially at 1:38 Thank you for all your work.

that's a very strong transition, better than arranged

Huh, listening to this months later, I always thought the MIDIs on a SC-88Pro sounded cheesy- but this one is almost damn accurate to the WAV version in both instrumentation and composition (aside from some noticable differences like the pianos being replaced with square leads and some missing/more quieter background harmonies like the bells.) This really makes me wonder what ZUN could've done with this sound module if it was used in unison with the SD-90. (and possibly the plug-ins he uses nowadays.) I'm very late to say this but, thanks for this great discovery.

Nearly ten years later and this is still one of my favorite Touhou songs as well. ^^
I always have a feeling ZUN accidentally made this into EuroBeat... I like this version better than the wav even though both are really nice!

I'm biased, but the trilling piano intro from the wav version is just so much nicer. In pretty much all other parts, especially chorus, the midi has hands down better sound to it. I just miss my plim plom

Not gonna lie, I like ZUNs version better. The one that comes with the game.
@HatsuSixty6 ай бұрын
this is also ZUN's version. EoSD's OST has a WAV version (the one you're referring to) and a MIDI version (the version in this video). The MIDI version is the original OST for the game and the WAV version is an arrangement by ZUN, which means that the "original" version is in reality the MIDI one. There's more information about all this stuff in the link in this video's description..
@muha06446 ай бұрын
@@HatsuSixty no, it isn't. It might be the same midi file, but ZUN did something different. First of all, almost all of the EoSD OST is pitched down half a semitone, with the exception of this song for some reason (next one, UN Owen Was Her is also pitched down). Also, his arrange of the wav version uses slightly different instruments. He didn't just plug the midi files into a synth and record the wav, like OP did here. That aside, I like ZUNs master of this midi file better.

@@muha0644 sorry for the misunderstanding, but that's not what i meant. what i wanted to say is that ZUN made the MIDI version first, and the WAV version later, as a different arrangement of the same music. the WAV version, as you said, is NOT just a recording of the MIDI version, and is, in reality, a completely different arrangement. as i said in my previous commend, the forum thread in the description explains this stuff better.

Suena demasiado repetitivo y algo molesto por el instrumento principal. Sinceramente prefiero por mucho la versión WAV.
