This question might be a bit dumb, but is the compressed air really necessary? Wouldn't bernoulli's principle cause air to be drawn in enough to create the same effect without having to have a compressed air reservoir?

as you can see, when he lowers the compressed air to a minimum it resembles a standard lighter flame. Completely cut the air and its basically a lighter. The fuel may be released at a compressed rate but once it exits the nozzle component it gets reduced to a regular flame.

The only problem with this that I can see is that it would eventually heat up to the point that the solder holding the copper wire on would melt as well... but other than that it's a great concept and seems to work great!

+Adarsh Shamloll Everything is being forced outwards faster than the flame can travel. That's one of the reasons why its best/recommended to use the compressed air as to push the fuel mixture faster than the flame can travel up the pipe. Because of this it stays relatively cool. It works on the same principle as a bunsen burner.

The niddle is not too hot because the gass is burned out of the niddle. That's why the soldering isn't melting

why compressed air instead of oxygen ? why did you put the air from the centre instead of surrounding the flame ? i have a set of torch that i use to braze copper pipes and the gas coming from the center and it blow oxygen from the surrounding holes to oxidize it,and by the way the torch you make in the video is very dangerous,what if the gas leak ?
