I have been to Rome on my own twice. The first time I was 43 years old and read all the "safe" ways to go about my trip. The best thing to do is learn as much Italian as you can - it goes a long way. Secondly, be confident and challenge prices i.e public transport prices ( they know you're a tourist ) and they always try to add on a couple of Euros- just say NO! And what is the normal price for a bus ticket? Thirdly, relax, you're there to enjoy yourself! Whatever you do, always throw yourself into their way of life - don't eat or drink near a tourist spot. Go into the back streets where the Italians go - much cheaper and a better experience. And finally, this is the best time you'll ever have - " When in Rome ". Ciao

Sadly that fountain is currently under refurbishment atm hopefully be done for the summer. But they have drained all water and constructed a viewing platform bridge over the top of it so perhaps not 😔

Hello everyone, I am a Roman citizen, just some advices to the tourists who visit Rome. During your sightseeing, keep away from anyone who wants to sell you something, especially in Via dei Fori Imperiali (connecting Piazza Venezia to the Colosseum). In the metro stations and at the Roma Termini train station you could meet strangers who offer their help to buy your ticket, keep away from them, nothing dangerous but rather annoying. Every automatic ticket machine has its instructions in English. In Rome you will not be in any dangerous situation, the police are efficient and present throughout the central area. Enjoy Rome.

+I Rasponi. in the Netherlands we have a saying (it might be known somewhere else though, but I don't know haha) that is 'all roads lead to Rome' which literally is what it is, but it stands for that there are more ways to get what you want or how you can do something :)

Great video of Rome I have been twice over the last two years and the advice offered is sound.It is a fantastic place you will need to go off season and for a least a week at a time not to miss the major sites but you could be in Rome for a year and still not see all the places of interest.BELLA ROMA!!

I've been to Rome several times for at least a week each time and still find there's a lifetime of things still to see. Rome is the most fascinating city in the world! If you get the chance to go, don't pass it by, grab it and I bet you'll want to go again and again! I'm 38 and it still gave me something, especially considering where to stay. Not too many go to Rome just to get drunk. Most go to see the sites and re-live history. Getting drunk and hitting on the chicks is just a bonus! :D

The first hotel we stayed at was near Pantheon we went out walking around 9 pm and managed by accident to see many of the historical sites such as Trevi fountain. It was not nearly as crowded and later went back during day to things that were closed. The third hotel we stayed at next to Spanish Steps we booked standard room last minute and they upgraded us for free at no request to penthouse with private chef. It helped as well to explore Italy with Italian friends who lived there. I loved Rome but Santa Margarita and Portofino were my favorite along Italian Riveria. We enjoyed Venice, Milan and Genoa as well. I can't wait to go back and explore more.

What I like about Rome is that it has the most romantic places, aside from the best galleries in the city it also offers ancient sites and fascinating piazzas. No doubt it's one of the most traveled city in the world. After all you can spend less but see more of it. :)

Some excellent advice. We visit Rome regularly and stay in Trastevere. An area full of restaurants and nightlife but with quiet side streets with lots of apartments to rent. We shop for food in the shops and market in Piazza di S. Cosimato, cooking for ourselves so we can dine in a really nice restaurant a couple of times a week. A wonderful city with lovely people especially if you try a few words in Italian.

Just got back from my first visit to Rome. WOW. Now Im really stuck on whether to go back or try some place new cause it was really that impressive and there was so much I couldnt see in 5 days. Didnt find this video all too useful. One point of advice Ill give is to get the Roma pass. It got me inside the Colosseum in literally 3 minutes while hundreds of suckers stood in long lines.
