Macenna, I know you’ll appreciate this: I had a man encounter me at my place of business, he asked me if he could speak to the manager. I smiled back, and asked him how I could help. He paused, looked aggravated and said firmly, “No, I want to speak to the MAN IN CHARGE!” I continued to smile (with effort) and said, “Sir, I AM the man in charge!” 🙄😂💪

I’m 33 weeks pregnant, and the entire pregnancy I’ve been very conscious to not *only* feed my brain with baby content- so to combat becoming obsessive (lol) I’ve really dove into house/styling/diy type content! Our styles are SO different, I love mid century modern, 70’s and 80’s styles, white walls lol but I still love to see how you style things and love to see someone passionate about what they do! I’ve been watching your videos almost from recent and now I’m going through older once since I just recently found your channel. Just wanted to stop by and say I love your content, it’s very relaxing and upbeat and positive and I am so thankful I found your channel!

Firstly, the loungers are gorgeous! Secondly, I'm glad you stood your ground with the vendor. That happened to me when I was car shopping and had my boyfriend with me. We walked in the door and only my boyfriend was greeted. When we first sat down to negotiate our salesman began directing his comment to my boyfriend. I immediately stopped him and said, "I'm the one buying the car, it's my money. He's just the chauffeur." 😂 I did some hard-hitting negotiation that day while my boyfriend remained silent the entire time. Down with misogyny!

its kind of a blessing sometimes bc haggling can be so uncomfortable (and I feel guilty/shame) but when someone is being sexist and u can use that anger to get a good deal. i'm sure the vendor was a nice guy but he shouldn't have turned away from her to speak to the romeo and he lost out on some extra cash bc of it. Macenna those are amazing loungers! If you can easily remove one of the arms from the lounger you could put it on the other so each has one arm on opposite sides... then the loungers could be pushed together sometimes to create a sweet spot for two.

We own a Sailboat ⛵️ & all the woodwork inside & out. Teak is amazing outdoor wood but I do have a recommendation. Don’t let them get grey & discolored. It’s a ton of work to get teak looking like your lounger’s. Keep them covered, light sand & teak oil & teak conditioner every spring & they will last “Forever”. We have a lot of teak in & out of our boat and all the teak that is in the outer cabin & handrails I made covers for them ( it’s a lot less upkeep having the covers I highly recommend them ) ⛵️ 😁

@velandrea
@velandrea Жыл бұрын
@@nottheone582 lol you don’t know me. And we don’t know the man, we don’t know his intention. I was simply sharing a different observation. If people assume your partner is paying, simple prove them wrong. I was at Ace Hardware two weeks ago looking for longer trim screws that I had bought at Home Depot, a man working there asks me what I’m looking for and dismissively says he’s never heard of that, he even “organized the entire nails and screw section himself”. I look straight ahead and see the trim screws I was looking for. He looked surprised and said you learn something new everyday. That moment was so satisfying, I love proving men (or women) wrong but I’m not opposed to giving them the benefit of the doubt either. Everyone makes mistakes. Not making apologies for sexist men 🙄

One thing I learned about garage sales about 25 years ago, and I'll bet that goes for flea markets as well, is that the buyer should not dress fancy. The sellers will look at you and figure you can afford it if they jack up the price. That is especially true in cases where the items are not priced - the price changes depending on how the seller feels at the moment. Also, we used to set our automatic sprinklers very early in the morning, maybe 4am or 5am, because we were told that was the best time to water.

Clematis would be really beautiful on your gazebo. It’s a gorgeous plant 🌱. Flowers 🌺 summer to fall, comes in a variety of colors, easy to grow, it’s a perennial so comes back bigger & better every year, & it’s not a thick heavy vine, so it will not break your gazebo/trellis.

Can you take the right arm off and put it on the right of the opposite and then they can each have an arm which would allow them to be pushed together (for snuggles nights by the pool)?

The trunk had thick leather straps (above the writing,at 28:24) for handles,they lay flat then curve out so that you can put your fingers underneath to carry it. I have my grandfather’s trunk that he used to come here from Germany a hundred years ago and the sides look exactly the same.

Excellent find MaCenna❣️ Vendor didn't know what he had. Loungers are approximately $1400-1600 each! All you need now are cushions, an umbrella, & a cocktail.😄

Also! I have an in ground pool the best thing we have invested in was a robotic pool cleaner they are pricey but SO worth it. It’s exactly like a robotic vacuum cleaner but for the pool some you can even control with an app. Life changing trust me!

To be fair, maybe the guy thought it was Romeo's call since you brought him to see them. Although that is very common. We can cut the guys some slack. It takes time to get used to changes 😁 The loungers were the deal of the year!

Do not shellac them if it is teak. I did a lot of research on wood and teak furniture last year and what you need to do is re-condition them each year if you want to maintain the color (like you said). Get the Golden Care brand, it is the same brand that Restoration Hardware uses.

I second this! My daughter lived in an old turn of the last century building built with four apartments. Her apartment was the lower right side of the building and her living room overlooked the huge front porch. She bought a 36" round teak table and two armchairs so she could eat al fresco or just sit and watch the world go by in the evening. She bought good quality teak oil and put it on every year. It's been over 10 years and still going strong and still the pretty teak color. And that was even with it being left outside in 2 upstate NY winters after she moved back north! Edited because iPhone decided to change "teak" to "teal"...

100% not shellac-ing! all the info the vendor was giving was incorrect so I definitely needed to do my own research to find the right info on them!

If they were redwood, maybe, but since they’re labeled “teak”, you know he had no idea what he was talking about.

Those loungers are gorgeous and they fit perfectly in that space. I almost think they are kind of neat being a little different with one having arms and wheels and the other not. And I loved the story you told about the gentleman selling them. Hopefully after that encounter he will change his way of interacting with customers. I can't even count how many times I have been dismissed or overlooked simply because I was with a man, even though I was the purchaser. My mom had a very strong personality so I learned from the best, as I see you have as well.

It’s so funny hearing you talk about this because I just experienced something similar when buying a car with my husband. I am the one who did the research, found the car and does most of our finances. The sales man would look at my husband when he asked questions and when I asked questions he almost seemed annoyed. This honestly happened at a few different lots we visited. I think after I got married I notice it a lot more now

Such a good deal! I love the way you get so excited. The arms are great to have when you are sitting upright; however, it’s my opinion that the arms really get in the way when you want to lay on your stomach. Try it. I think you will like having one with and one without!

When I worked for Sears they taught us that a couple is better to close a sale than just one of the two. That’s because negotiations could go nowhere when the person says “I can’t make the final decision without my [husband/wife/partner].”

23:58 A cute idea for Sun coverage over the chaises would be something in the way of a drapey-canopy-tent type situation. The organic shape of it would be really soft and pretty. Congrats on the great flea market find! And congrats on standing your ground in a firm but respectful way. Also for not trashing him afterward. You are a class act.
