Wouldn’t you be worried about being prosecuted? I don’t know to much about this. I’m thinking about getting a steam deck, but I don’t want to do something that is illegal and be punished . I’m not good at computers. Any info will help.

@@Brian-ye9yv It depends on where you live. In some Western countries like Canada and America, ISP providers track what users download on their devices. That doesn't mean you'll be prosecuted - it just means they might inform you to stop downloading from illegal websites. But even if you continue, nothing bad will happen. Currently there are no enforcement mechanisms, so that's that. But most countries have no interest in tracking what users are downloading. This is true for most EU members, and definitely true for third-world countries, where there's no infrastructure to spy on users.

Didn’t Nintendo win a big lawsuit against Yuzu??
@Atlas4614 ай бұрын
@@Brian-ye9yv yes although that is why Yuzu developer were doing some serious infringement with both the Patreon were they monetized off of it and also the fact that they kind of encouraged and pirated new releases behind the patreon if I remember correctly. Yuzu got a lawsuit only after Totk came there was this piece of Code that apparently got used by the emulator dev to distribute illegal games that had yet to be released, in fact most emulators from derivative of Yuzu to be struck down mostly do because of that specific code. I mean Riyujinx is alive and well because the devs were not profiting off of it and because they weren't helping in pirating new releases behind the curtains. Emulators in and on themselves aren't illegal if it was emulation would have ceased to exist a long time ago when the first major lawsuit came about, instead that lawsuit was actually won by the emulation community. And even tho Yuzu got a lawsuit by Nintendo it was solved by a monetary settlement and considering Nintendo who has always been huge on hoing against emulators in the lawsuit the company never claimed that emulator was illegal, only that it facilitated Piracy on a colossal scale, which we have to admit it is kind of true. That also bring the Mig Switch Dumper and similar products, if one get a switch games cartridge and used the dumper to simply read the game within the cartridge there is nothing Nintendo can really do about it since the game was brought. I find it really odd with how much the modding community behind Nintendo consoles took this long to create this device, like in the end if someone took the cartridge reader of the switch and reverse engineered it or somehow managed to create an adapter to connect it to the PC we wouldn't have those issues. Tho if Nintendo really wishes to face off the problem of privacy maybe they should reevaluate what they are doing. I mean the high prices their games have don't really justify them to not be a fault, after all piracy happens because of an accessibility problem, and it mainly happens in countries where it is harder to access determined content because of high level of poverty and the such. And when it comes to old Nintendo games they are pirated because they can't be brought anymore and it is also why Nintendo doesn't even go directly against retro emulation there is a risk that their argument for piracy would fall on the ground of the fact those games are discontinued and no longer accessible in any other means, which could lead to possibly lose the arguments in court if the emulation community plays it right. Yuzu unfortunately showed that they were the culprit of what Nintendo claimed they were doing by deciding to not challenge it, they had the money to possibly offer a counter argument if they were innocent, yet they folded and decided to instead close all their projects.
