Thank you so much for posting this. I'm from the south, but I read about Ron in the Cavalcade of Racing paper and Stock Car Racing magazine. I remember when he came south to Cup racing. He was always one of my favorites. RIP Ron, thanks for the memories!

Its funny that he brought up Buddy Baker because I swear there was an event at Seekonk where Buddy was at the track. I'm pretty sure he didn't race but I do remember meeting him at an autograph signing. I was maybe 8 or 9 years old at the time so my memory could be off, but I do remember seeing Ronnie drive the number 3. I even had the old school 8x10 Black and White picture on my bedroom wall. Anyone else remember Baker being at Seekonk?

I remember the sound from the parking lot as we walked in and the hairs on my neck would stand up like Ronnie said. I remember all of the old greats from Seekonk Speedway, Hop Harrington, Deke Astle, Fred Astle Jr., Bobby Spragee, to name a few and of course Ron Bouchard. My dad would take me on Saturday nights, he made a lot of friends with the drivers and one night I actually got to ride 1 lap around the track in Bobby Spragees car, I was only 6-7 years old and it was something I will never forget. Thanks for the memories at one of the greatest tracks in the country and thanks for the greatest drivers who raced their hearts out every Saturday night at Seekonk speedway, The Action track of the East.

There was no one quite like Ronnie, Even when he became so famous, he never forgot his roots and the people that were good to him. Racing did a lot for Ronnie, but I think, he was a gift to racing. He alway put his all into a race. and at the finish no matter what he smiles and loved his fans . He took time to talk to his fans. There will never be another racer like Ronnie in my book. He had a kind, caring way about him that stayed with you because you knew that he really cared. I always said to myself. He would stop and talk to a person and look into their eyes as if they were the only one there talking with him, and that you were special. When the fact is the he was the special one. .

Great job Sid as I think you really captured the man and his passion. I never knew him but saw him race a number of times. The guys from that era...we'll never see that again I afraid. Too many racers today are for themselves only. These champions Ronnie, Richie, Ed ,Bugs etc always gave back and I sure as hell miss that.
