Indeed It's almost sure that at that times J.S.Bach had the habit of letting some improvisational parts, in Brandeburg too. Than when started the cristallization of Classic repertoire this habit went Lost. Repeat, Musicians used to improvise at that times, Ron Is trying someway to recover that habit❤

The great composers, Bach and Beethoven included, improvised during their day, but there were no surviving recorded copies for obvious reasons (technological limitations). So I guess in music like this, there shouldn’t be any rule written in stone that one cannot do this or that.
