What I never understood about Fez, is literally everybody, the staff, the audience, everybody knew that Ron was messing with Fez in bits such as this . But Fez took every word Ron said completely seriously, like it was written on the tablets from on high. Fez honestly believe Ron was upset and hurt over this dumb matchbook gift, when Ron was just ripping on it for good radio.

Look up “about yesterday’s show” which is after Ron finally told Fez off, and said “I can’t deal with you anymore” and Fez had a breakdown saying “don’t let them do this to us” showing that he still didn’t understand that Ron was the “them”. Ron and Fez had a long meeting where Ron FINALLY got the point that Fez takes everything as literal, has no sense of humor, and does literally everything for Ron’s approval and attacks others who get too close. He mentioned the gift but wouldn’t say it was the matchbook so it’s before this clip, where Fez basically says that anything negative he takes as a death threat. To quote Ron “If I was a chick having this talk with Fez and management I could sue the whole place and make millions”. Ron didn’t know he was really that bad off, to where Fez is a husk of himself.

Fez’a relationship with Ron is the sickest, weirdest, most bizarre relationship to ever exist on radio. Ron summed it up perfectly when he said something along the lines of its submissive and also narcissistic. And then the not dating thing because deep down he really wanted to be with Ron. Doing and saying everything through a lens of Ron’s approval. Even thinking about it totally gives me the creeps but it’s also absolutely fascinating.

I think in some ways Fez is the "anti-Erock" in relation to Ron and Fez. They're both flawed guys who are lucky in the job they're in, they both get railed on whether it's deserved or not, and they both get "stalked" by Sam. The difference is that Erock knows when to not fight back and when he does, there's a pay-off. Fez should have more confidence, he's an incidental genius of the english language.
