The single most underappreciated wrestler/promoter in wrestling history. Gigantic influence on today's product and yet people have no idea this is the case. Love this guy too.

In the 70s & early 80s I grew up in Gordon Alabama...about 20 miles south of Dothan Alabama. I went to the Houston Co Farm Center many, many Saturday nights to watch Ron & Robert Fuller, Bob Armstrong, Jimmy Golden, Austin Idol, Jerry Stubbs & Arn Anderson, & so many other great wrestlers that came through the Dothan area. Much love from Mobile Alabama.

I know the area you are speaking of , my wife's family is from there , in a town called Brewton , I think . Her father worked at a paper mill in Cortland which is in North Alabama, they lived in Decatur , thats also in the North Alabama area. He used give me a hard time because I lived in a very small town called Moulton . The first time I went with her to a family reunion , he dad took me to the area he grew up in . I think it was called Pallard , or Pollard . There may have been 10 or 20 houses in that area with a sulfer water well right in the middle of town , and a railroad tracks on one end. It was way smaller than the town I grew up in. We also watched those same wrestlers but out of Birmingham Alabama. It came on at 12:00 am on Saturday night. Back in those days most TV stations in the south would go off the air at 2:00 am.

@@davidterry919 David...I've been a truck driver for close to 30 yrs now...I pull a chemical tank & go to a lot of chemical plants & paper mills. I know EXACTLY where Cortland, Pollard, Moulton, & Brewton are!!! I've been to the paper mill in Cortland & Brewton MANY MANY TIMES!!! Brewton is actually about 70 miles north of Mobile Alabama. I've been thru Moulton many time & I used to stop & eat at the Chinese buffet in Moulton where the Tractor Supply Store is now!!! Much love from Mobile Alabama.

Growing up in the 70's and 80's, I only got to read about the Stud Stable in the wrestling magazines. Great interview, as always, tremendous amount of wrestling history. Younger fans of today should watch this interview, they'll definitely learn something. Thank you so much Hannibal for what you do, you're a true class act.

Saw him wrestle Ric Flair for the NWA world championship at the Dothan Farm Center, around 1981. Unbelievable, epic match, The Stud had him licked but then of course heel Flair cheated and escaped with the belt ... crowd went absolutely nuts. Hard to describe that era unless you were there - Southeastern Championship Wrestling forever!!! (-:

Anybody who knows anything about pro wrestling anywhere in the South, knows about Ron Fuller, the Tennessee Stud. This guy was one of the top wrestlers ever to enter the squared circle. Wish he would write a book about his career. An interview with both he and his brother Robert and cousin Jimmy Golden would be a real treat. Enjoy your retirement, Stud, you are one of the greatest wrestlers and promoters of all time. This was a very interesting interview and enjoyed watching him talk. He is one helluva storyteller. I just have so much respect for this man. Watched him many times in Mobile, Ala at Expo Hall and Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham, Ala. His feuds with Bob "The Bullet" Armstrong are legendary.

Mr Hannibal , I would like to tell thank you for all these interviews. They bring back memories from 70's and 80's of me and my grandmother watching southern championship wrestling from Birmingham Alabama. Mr.Fuller was known as the Tennessee Stud. He had all the bad guys or heels as they called themselves. I remember Arn Anderson when he used the name Marty Lundge ..I think that was it , but anyway . My poor old loving grandmother would get spun up out of her frame. I never heard her use those type of words untill Mr Fuller or Jimmy Golden would cheat and Rick Flair would cause her blood pressure to shoot way up. She hated him , she would call him SOB and other words that I never knew she even knows , but thank you very much.

I wasn't completely finished , I hit the wrong button. Back in those days there was no cable TV in this area, it was an antenna . I would have to go outside and turn it to the northwest so we could watch the memphis wrestling. It was not always plain ,but as long as it wasn't to bad fussy or the picture was rolling we would watch it. I watch wrestling now with my boys and there little ones ,but it's just not the same WWE don't have the story line or people like the story teller Mr Fuller. I remember him calling Austin Idol , Austin Idiot . He can tell some stories. Again thank you very much.

I wonder why grandma's love wrestling? My grandmother and i used to watch wrestling too during the early 80s. When the wrestling came on you better not change the channel, lol. My grandmother used to like Sting. It was like a soap opera to her. Those were the days...
