My 2015 cbr1000 has saved my az more times that i can count, smooth, reliable, very forgiving bike, ideal for city, highway and the track, it makes u a better more confident rider, straight, steady and well balanced, even in heavy rain, bike was designed for 95% of the riders out there, bulletproof Honda technology, just amazing machines

150 brake horsepower from a cbr900 that bike was more like 120hp

No way. I ride a Honda Hornet 900 which is a detuned version of Fireblade 900 with FI and naked looks. It makes 120+hp. Fireblade makes around 150hp.

I have a ‘99 Blade... and I only wish it had 150bhp.. I’ll forgive Ron that though..

128 horsepower is a lot for a beginner like me. I’ve never ridden, but a few months ago, I got interested in motorcycles and got a fully functional 919 Fireblade with 2,000 miles on it...for $500.

128 or so bhp for the old ones but what people fail to mention or notice is that the bike had loads of low end torque and a smooth power delivery through the entire rpm range. On the street, the new bike will have little advantage other than looks which is in the eye of the beholder. The early blades actually look more muscular. On the track you wouldny be able to deny the advances of the late model bikes..

Think he was just spitballin`. He must have ridden hundreds of bikes and I don`t remember him as a tech geek. No ol` Rocket Ron ,World Champion GP500 series was more a rider. Of course being a race school it wouldn`t be surprising if air filters and exhausts had been freed up. And his bikes were supplied by Honda Britain whose Race department he had worked with .Took the senior TT for them I seem to recall.

to the best of my knowledge the gen 1 and 2 fireblades only kicked out around 111hp, which may seem measley but lest not forget that this was the lightest bike by a mile upon its launch at only 185kg dry, the blades didnt start going into the 150hp range until the early 2000`s with the gen 4 model ( the 929 RR )

I have an rr5 as well. The old 1000 long stroke was the best road engine ever used in a fireblade. So much grunt from anything more than 4k rpm and still an obscene amount of power af the top end too.

The '92 Blade was 112-116 BHP at the back wheel. Honda used to claim 128 horses in the bikes specifications.

Once you swapped the weird 16-inch front wheel for a proper 17-inch front wheel, it was 150 bhp

I guess 128 specs were at the crank readings 🤔 still a legend bike though 😉

@TheMightypulsar
@TheMightypulsar 5 жыл бұрын
Haha your 636 can't even kill a Honda Hornet 900 which has a detuned fireblade engine. Fireblade might be old but no modern 600s can slaughter the fireblade 900s torque.

This whole conversation is the exact opposite of the spirit of riding, but my 1999 CBR900RR destroys my friend’s R6. It has a way bigger bore size and torque that helps.
