Will say though, don't agree that Kawhi's shot was good in college. He changed it during the pre draft process and it was super notable.

You were spot on with this video. I love everything about Ron Holland EXCEPT for his shooting, like you said, why have a guy on the court if he can't shoot? I'm hoping he falls to my OKC Thunder, but I don't want to see another Josh Giddey situation...having a good player that can't shoot. Keep up the good work!

I was low on Holland but this video def opened my eyes. He has a top 3 ceiling in this draft and that counts for something. If he goes to a good development program he can star in 3+ years

Why are people saying Holland got holes in his game. All of these players has holes. Alex sarr avg 9 points, 4 rebounds and for a center has a terrible FG%, where Center should shoot close to 60% due to pick and rolls. Holland motor is the highest in this Draft and coaching in G league is more of the issue than the players. Stephen Castle is not a knock down shooters but Holland has a better Mid-range and gets to the rim and finishing more than Castle. Castle avg less points, stls and blks. I dont get why Castle is ahead of Holland. I feel if you swap Holland and Castle, Holland would have gone number 1.
@michaelahurt3 ай бұрын
Castle is bigger -- Holland to me looks like he'll always be pretty thin even when he gets stronger, think Andrew Wiggins; whereas Castle is a tank like Jimmy Butler -- and his passing his better. Castle is pretty advanced in terms of the types of passes he can throw and seems to understand is reads in PnR. His handle is also bouncier. He uses a hesi often and changes of pace and direction to move defenders. The shooting is very subjective. What I would say is Castle has shown good touch on floaters and his shot mechanics are actually fairly simple to fix. It's actually a lot like Kawhi and LeBron where he has an elongated shot put motion shot and usually has his weight back. Both Kawhi and LeBron had similar issues and both shortened and compacted their shot while shooting with better balance. (If Castle goes SA I'd almost bet on him being a pretty good shooter in time.) Holland's shot is kind of a mess. He brings the ball in front of his face and turns the ball to square it but he doesn't really get his elbow under the ball. And he has a one motion shot but he also dissipates the energy transfer by kicking his feet out reach requires him to aim with his fingers and use his arms to generate power because the ball is falling away from the rim. It's almost like a middle schooler where he has to load up to generate the power. He shoots kind of like Steph but that's not a compliment. But no one should shoot like Steph. It's a miracle and testament to Curry's insane hand-eye coordination and fine muscle control that he can replicate a shot so complicated. But for 99.999% of players you don't want that many moving parts because it is so hard to replicate. That's why Holland's shot looks fine but he misses a lot. There's a lot of room for error because of all the things that need to go right. He's similar to Jaylen Brown in terms of how raw he is and how much work there is to do. His game is all holes right now. Castle is just a lot closer to finished product even if he's also raw.
@tonydavis94723 ай бұрын
@@michaelahurt to me the film for castle doesn't pop for me. I look at his team and see that castle had a lot of support and the player's that he is defending isn't going to the rim is more due to Clingan. They all had private workouts with the hornets, so whoever we take I will give the new management a chance.

"All of these players have holes" - exactly, it's a terrible draft.
@michaelahurt3 ай бұрын
@@JeffreyOConnell-g4x Players good drafts have holes too. That's what happens when you draft 19 year olds. The last prospect who didn't have any holes in his game was Duncan. But it is a weak draft at the top obviously

You were on point with this one, just looking at his improvements from high school (9-12) months really shows a lot. Ron often plays at two speeds but once he understands and incorporates slow pace into his game as well as know when and where his shots will come in the game he will improve as a three point shooter. He has intangibles like competitiveness which makes him the dark horse for sure
