I've been blessed to be acquainted with Clint for the past several years. I want people to know he is every bit as genuine as you see him. Very, very grounded, unpretentious, happily married to a wonderful woman, Kat, with a family life now! He deserves all the happiness life is offering him. He created so much happiness that is now coming back to him. Great karma!

I'm about his age and always noticed him in TV and films when I was a kid. Ron is about my brother's age and our parents were also from Oklahoma and moved to California. Read nothing but good things about them over the years and I think being from a similar background made me appreciate and root for them more!

Clint was an underestimated actor in my opinion.. And also Rance their dad was underestimated.. But they all had a "star" quality. All very good. Clint was hilarious in his role on Seinfeld. Rance was on Seinfeld at least once too. Rance and his wife did a good job raising their kids.

A lot of people rag on Hollywood (and rightly so!) for destroying the lives of child actors, but very few people point out the role of the parents in the children's lives. The Howard brothers are a good example of child actors who weren't destroyed by Hollywood because their parents protected them from all that filth. Kudos to Rance and Cheryl Howard!

Yeah, they were VERY lucky to have 2 mentally stable parents who raised them to be mentally stable adults. I always tell people, you have to be mentally prepared to deal with Hollywood, or success in this industry period. We hear so much about their dad, and he really did have incredible insight in how to navigate this industry on behalf of his children. Again, great stable parents, God bless them!

Great inside interview about Ron and his family, especially how after having children he realized how profound his mom’s influence was on his life and how he dismissed her earlier in his life. His success can be traced because he stood on the shoulders of giants, his parents. I hope his children pay him the same homage.

I grew up watching Andy Griffith and Gentle Ben. Enjoyed both actors in their other endeavors as they ( as well as my generation) grew up. I commend Rance and Jean Howard in the raising of two extraordinary, gifted and most importantly, kind and decent human beings. Of course you never know what happens behind closed doors, but I’m impressed by the Howard Family. Their book is well written and I would definitely recommend reading. Blessings to the “Boys” and their families. Thanks for being great parts of my life.🙏👍😊

I don't always approve of everything Ron Howard does, but when I see this family, I have such profound respect for the way the parents raised their boys. The politeness, and the way they seem to have not let them get big-headed, but to remain on the level of other human beings, not looking down on the ones who aren't from entertainment, has always been really impressive.

@@standupG1 I don't think I said anything wrong. Maybe Ron knows I don't approve of everything he does, all the movies that he makes, but I wanted to say how much I think of his family and his wonderful upbringing by his parents. If that is so, failure to mention that, "of course", I don't, would make me sound like an obsequious fan. So, damned if you do, damned if you don't, so I I chose making a comment about how much I admire his parents' childrearing, and that they raised mostly decent, polite kids. If Ron wanted to be mean to me about it, let him handle it, maybe? Unless you're him, in which case, nevermind. I'd still admire his parents', but Hollywood would clearly have had its way with him.

Graham, nice interview. Ron and Clint are right that in the moment you never realize how much your mother/father/grandparents mean until they're gone. I think you can't blame or regret that, you just have to believe they know how you feel, especially if the family dynamic isn't very demonstrative.

I kind of know how the brothers both feel in some ways. I wasn't as kind and loving as a son, as I could have been and caused my mom such grief and heartache when she was alive due to my issues. I loved her very much though and since she passed away 11 years ago, I learned to cherish her more and think about my regrets. It's natural I think, to cherish your mother more, when they're no longer here with us and you get older and face your own mortality. Great interview and I give Graham Bensinger so much credit because he doesn't interrupt the person he's talking to and lets them tell their story in a calm, not rushed manner. Too many interviewers seem to like putting the focus on them, instead of where it belongs.

smoking is slow suicide. Did not know about the matriarch of that family but have lost family members to the smoking habit. One passed away age 51, despite his non-smoking parents living into their 90s. Another passed away age 61 after lifelong smoking. Prayers to the rest of their family for the loss, it hits hard because you always wonder 'why did they keep the habit' and it comes from disbelief about the effects, mainly because the side effects manifest very incrementally. If you could take a smoker (or any addiction) from day 1 to their 10th year, every last one would quit because the incremental nature, the slow destruction, would be revealed. Just remember what your grandparents said and how you felt about it - "we haven't seen you in a year, you've gotten so tall!" meanwhile you noticed nothing, the change was too incremental

Most of my family lived to be in their 90’s and most of them smoked , but ate a good diet . I know other families where none of them smoked and all died young due to poor diets and bad genetics , so I think a good diet is just as important as not smoking , because the non smokers in my family were overweight and didn’t live as long as the smokers who ate healthy and was skinny.

Interesting how Clint looks so much more like his mom and Ron so much like his dad. I think Clint hit on it with the question of earnings when he said that he didn't thinik about his earnings that they just had a good family dynamic. I think that is what made both those boys such good men (Clint's personal issues aside). The were given the freedom to be themselves in spite of being the child actors. That helps one right oneself when things begin to go south. They served their family well and their family served them well.
