When a fox wags its tail, what does it mean? Happiness like with dogs or agitation like with cats? Either way damn fox-hunters to oblivion.

Hamster Munchies Due to the domestication of foxes (ie breeding by 3-5 generations, 5 generations being preferred) the pups and adults of foxes act very similar to canines/dogs and puppies. When they are happy they make that squealing noise. Though you usually don't hear foxes make noise at all. But sometimes animals have a generic snarling noise when they snarl. When they wag their tail its the same as a dog. They're 'excited'. Thus sometimes when they are excited we deem it as happiness. But not all excitement equates to them being 'happy'. just them being excited. animals don't have self conscious thoughts about what happiness is like we do lol Wolves, dogs, cats, etc, maybe even foxes. Their tails have significance as you said they may show happiness or agitation. Likewise when wolves have a tail up it signifies their dominance as an alpha. The rest usually have their tails down as a sign of respect/submission. Foxes are most likely more or less the same in that their tails are down when they are relaxed. There's another vid of a fox pup and its tail was wagging quite a bit running around in a large dance like hall/room.

Hamster Munchies Tail wagging dose not always equate to happiness. It can be associated with a number of high energy impulsive emotions like excitement and even anxiety. You have to take the cues form the other body language accompanying the wag because different wags mean different things.

Grek hurr durr I think there is meaning in furries. They as animals represent a certain perspective on humans. I think it's almost similar to love for AI like in chobits. Love of furries is much different than loving animals like any pet, because furries are not mere animals but actual intelligent beings that happen to have animalistic features. I mean imagine if thee was actually a race of aliens (sry R key is stuck), and they are a species of furries. They are humanoid, but have animal features. You can't say you're having beastality. In fact for them as an intelligent species you would not only be discriminating but you would be insulting them for comparing them to 'lower life forms', no offense to earth animals. So in the end furries, who are 'usually' intelligent like humans, can't be put in the same league as animals and thus, it can't be true beastiality. When hes happy/excited, same as a dog. While foxes do resemble cats in some ways, they are in fact canines (in the family canidae- same as wolves, coyotes, jackals, domestic dogs, etc.) and like all other canines they display the same basic behaviors, tail wagging included.
