I’m glad this podcast was on my feed. This was refreshing. These are the type of men that you need to learn from and be around. Old school, no none sense, take care of your responsibilities types. If you don't like Ron Washington, you are the problem. I sat beside the Angels dugout in Baltimore last week about 10 ft from Mr. Washington. By the 2nd inning of the first game he was my favorite coach of all-time. The way he communicated with his players is ZERO bullshit from top to bottom. Commands respect without forcing it. Hard to do with guys making millions playing a game.

When EY played for my Padres in 2005, the players called him "The Judge" bcuz he was one of those vets on the team that kept everybody in line...they won a division that season. And Wash' is "my Uncle in my head" ...he just don't know it. Two of my favorite cats in the game, bcuz they gon' "keep it a buck" with you 24/7. If you want some bullshit, don't step to them, bruh.

Coaches should be baseball experts educated in analytics. They should the experts in the wisdom gained through experience but be able to understand the information goes comes from the scientists who crunch numbers. The number crunchers have no clue on how the game actually works but they are brilliant mathematicians etc often they come up with BS that is not actually practical or even wrong even though their analytics say otherwise. The same happens in physics and medicine etc . That's why things have to be tested before they are implemented, most theories are wrong even when they are based on data.
