Dig Deep into the art of coaching and leadership in #baseball in a discussion with two of the most respected #mlb coaches in the game- #LAAngels Manager, Ron Washington, and his trusted third base coach, Eric Young Sr; both former MLB players themselves, Wash and EY get right into an enthusiastic and fun conversation with former World Series Champion, and host, #erichosmer , Process & Development Coach, Justin Su'a, and 12-year MLB Veteran and media personality, Peter Moylan.
Both Wash and EY stress the significance of leadership that extends beyond baseball strategies to include personal growth, team cohesion, and the development of a winning mindset. They reflect on their roles as mentors in the sport, underscoring the responsibility of seasoned players and coaches to pass down their knowledge and wisdom, thus ensuring the continued growth and success of baseball.
Effective #leadership involves more than just directing others; it's about inspiring, guiding, and supporting individuals to achieve their best, applicable in any group or organization. The episode underscores the critical role of open and genuine communication between coaches and players in building trust, understanding, and a cohesive team dynamic.
Listen in as hosts Eric Hosmer, Justin Su’a, and Peter Moylan eagerly ask Wash and EY all of these themes, frameworks, and processes that make Wash and EY two of the most respected legendary leaders in the game of baseball.

Crazy it took him that long!! Some plp with no experience get it right away!! The other one is Kai Correa… great infield coach, becomes interim head coach, then the Giants find someone else and let him go!! 🤷‍♂️

I’m glad this podcast was on my feed. This was refreshing. These are the type of men that you need to learn from and be around. Old school, no none sense, take care of your responsibilities types. I’ve followed these for a while and have always respected how they go about business. It was only a matter of time before they got another opportunity. As a father, I’d be honored to have my son tutored by them. I’m rooting for the Angels to have success.

If you don't like Ron Washington, you are the problem. I sat beside the Angels dugout in Baltimore last week about 10 ft from Mr. Washington. By the 2nd inning of the first game he was my favorite coach of all-time. The way he communicated with his players is ZERO bullshit from top to bottom. Commands respect without forcing it. Hard to do with guys making millions playing a game.

Great podcast. The only thing I would suggest is to work on how the questions flow out during the conversation. I felt that sometimes questions were asked and they interrupted the flow of the conversation or took it away from where it was at. Nonetheless, great to see you guys articulate and have great convos.

When EY played for my Padres in 2005, the players called him "The Judge" bcuz he was one of those vets on the team that kept everybody in line...they won a division that season. And Wash' is "my Uncle in my head" ...he just don't know it. Two of my favorite cats in the game, bcuz they gon' "keep it a buck" with you 24/7. If you want some bullshit, don't step to them, bruh.

Coaches should be baseball experts educated in analytics. They should the experts in the wisdom gained through experience but be able to understand the information goes comes from the scientists who crunch numbers. The number crunchers have no clue on how the game actually works but they are brilliant mathematicians etc often they come up with BS that is not actually practical or even wrong even though their analytics say otherwise. The same happens in physics and medicine etc . That's why things have to be tested before they are implemented, most theories are wrong even when they are based on data.
