I see Araujo put his hand on Barcola’s shoulder and pull him down - making no attempt to play the ball, just to make contact with Araujo. Last man, goal scoring opportunity and no attempt to play the ball = red card. The Gundo situation was a coming together, Gundo was off balance and you could argue initiated the contact himself. There was also another defender near by and there was no opportunity to score. At the very very very best, you could argue for a penalty but in reality you don’t get penalties for coming togethers like that.

Man that has to be one of the worst fouls I’ve ever seen considering the circumstances. Dam. At this level of soccer you have to know this. When one runs with that speed and taking care of the ball as well a little push makes one to lose balance. Though maybe He could run anyway, but the momentum and the scoring chance is basically lost. So He choose to fall indicating to the referee that He rather choose the foul for the defender than trying to make something out of this ruined chance. It is obvious for anyone who played football. This is how this game is played. Obvious foul, obvious red card. If someone says that the central defender was in line with Araujo, it is a straight lie. The lines of the grass can tell easily that Araujo was the last defender. Xavi is abnormal saying what He is saying, even Barcelona players admitted that it was the mistake of the defender. Actually a silly mistake, because even if it is a goal, 11 v 11 good chance to make it in home stadium.
