I'm actually working on my own video of the subject, but back in the '90s when I was a kid, two of my elementary schools were visited by Ronald McDonald: one good and talented, and one lame and embarrassing. This was in a more innocent time when it was normal for American schools to openly embrace corporate tie-ins with fast food companies.

Having been a wage slave to the golden arches in my teens. My fondest memory of the orange haired weirdo was when he made an appearance at our store. Obviously it wasnt the real Mr McDonald. But. The franchises had to abide by a rule. When Ronald was in store he was in charge. The overwhelming joy seeing the managers turning visibly red with rage when Ronald told us all to take a 20 minute break. To 17 year old me, that made him a hero.

When my son was 4 he was diagnosed with cancer, and since the University of Alabama's women and children's hospital was a very long drive for us, we stayed at the Ronald McDonald House, a charity home for families that are located near large treatment hospitals. We never paid a dime and were treated wonderfully. I'm crying while I type this, I know it isn't HIS home or anything but inside the home there's pictures of Ronald all over and anytime I see him I think about that, my son is in remission and about to turn 12, and that place made our lives a little better for free.

"Are you nervous?" The man says. "Nervous? There's nothing to be nervous about." Ronald responded. The man noted that this was the first time he had seen the clown without a smile. "No, not nervous. More like, I'm sad that it's over." The man eyed the clown before looking to the walls of the elevator. "Ya did good, Ronald." Ronald looked at the floor, fixing his signature clothing. "What is it like?" The man pulled his gaze from the walls and looked deep into Ronald's solemn eyes. "Death?" He asked. "Yeah. What's it like." Ronald responded. "Ronald, ya did good. If anything, it's going to be peace for you." Ronald smiled a pained smile before responding, "But, the kids. I'll never see any of them again." "Ronald..." The man said. The elevator stopped. The door opened. "I think you'll be just fine." Ronald stood in amazement as the door opened, revealing a beautiful McDonalds' restaurant decorated for a wonderful party. Those wonderful golden arches he knew so well stood elegantly against the corporate-mandated countertops. However, best of all, there stood an entire group of children, holding up signs saying, "Hi Ronald!" Each one let out a yelp as they saw him, cheering his name. "Ronald! Ronald! Ronald!" Ronald stepped off the elevator and found himself surrounded by the joyous shouts of children welcoming him to his new home. Ronald turned back to the man and smiled. "I... I'm loving it. Thank you." The man nodded with a slight grin and the elevator doors slowly closed.

I saw a study, maybe paid by McD's, that a professor and a few voluntary studies repeated the documentary experiment with one caveat: Men were limited to 2000kcal per day and women to 1500. Easy to track with standardized meals. After a few months, they were totally fine. Some had even lost weight, the study claimed. What people forgot about supersize me is that the guy would ALWAYS take the xxl portions if the clerk offered. Though a single burger is like 500kcal, you have fries and soda with it. You're looking at well beyond the 2000kcal. Then again, though it was properly scienced and their methods peer reviewed, I can't shake the notion that they were backed by McD's. Oh well, much more credible than a random guy filming himself for 30 days with the explicit purpose to shock people, tbh. Seriously, do you think that if there wasn't a scene were he fell ill he would have published the footage? For all we know, he could have been fine and faked the adverse effects. Well, as Marcus Aurelius said, "everything you hear is an opinion". I don't want to defend a massive corporation, I'm simply on the side of truthfulness. And one simple truth is that if you take in more calories than you burn off, you'll grow fat. This is the blame shifting game, and honestly, Super Size Me did it no favors. "It's the corporations fattening people up! Not the people stuffing their greasy maws beyond what they should!" Yeah, sure. Pretty much all you eat nowadays is industrialized. Eating McDonalds IN MODERATION isn't much different than eating the hormone filled pesticide sprikled GMOs you cook yourself. Though I'm pretty sure they add some addictive stuff to their food. McD's are pretty much a luxury item where I live. I don't deliberately avoid them, just think they're not worth the money. So when I had no option other than eating at McD's, I bought it, ate it and I shit you not, was craving another one for a couple days. It was a surreal experience. The burger itself was tasty alright, but not the best thing I've ever eaten. I've had much better value, mom and pop made, locally sourced ingredient burgers in local burger joints. None of those I've ever eaten made me feel that way.

Fun fact Pusha T created the “I’m lovin it” jingle.
Come again? The "Grindin" guy made the iconic jingle??? No freaking way. For some time as a kid i did think it was by Justin Timberlake with his "I'm Lovin It" song. I guess it was just sponsored by McDonald's.

6:50 about Pogo The Clown. Probably one of the most recognizable thing related to him after his death is the one of the most known unknown bands Acid Baths debut album "When The Kite String Pops" which features a painting of Pogo The Clown that Gacy painted during the times he was in prison.

The next big marketing campaign for McDonald's is going to be a sad and lonely middle-aged Ronald feeling down because he's not as popular as he was 20 years ago, so he visits the happy place from his childhood where he can eat tasty junk to feel better and not have to do the dishes when he gets home, which is basically a 1-1 for all the people who grew up watching him. They will relate. We already have adults buying Happy Meals just for the toys from their childhood. Nostalgia is the opiate of the masses right now.

3:24 Maybe people are idealistic in their youth until self interest takes hold and they only worry about what helps them and their family that literally no one else but them cares about so self interest has to come first? It’s easy to “take a stance” until doing so would inconvenience your spouse or children, or cause them harm…

@@uncleprimrose9337 eh, kinda badly written jokes, like not funny and not so bad they are funny just lazy and not funny. Like its decent but not special imo, judging from this 1 video. He could stop with the bad jokes, (I mean they arent that frequent but still), or get some other thing going. Try to remember that your parents had no easy access to alternative media, like we do. You had a handful of TV channels, a radio, and the newspaper. You could sign up for mailing lists from political/activist organizations, but you'd only hear about these groups by going out and physically researching these groups, either at book and magazine shops or the public libraries archives. Fuck Trump, but keep that in mind. We suddenly transitioned to a world where you can get brainwashed by whatever social media and ad algorithms throws at your aged, habit engrained mind. Like lambs before the slaughter.

Apparently having minor arrests at 19 disqualifies you from learning the art of the subway sandwich. But it was long enough to see the frozen rectangular meat slurry from the Kentucky animal concentration camps. It's not "fresh" and Subway uses Soylent Green, which we all know is PeOPlE!!!!
