The best players are defined by statistics, consistency, technical ability and intelligence, and no one comes anywhere near Messi, even CR7 who in my opinion is one of the best players ever. I would say internationally they are about equal, although it's hard to compare south American and European international competition. Ultimately, Messi is statistically far better than Ronaldo in every regard, to the point where it's not logical to even compare them. The only thing Ronaldo has on his side, is more matches played, because he is older, and Real Madrid made it much further in more CL campaigns, than Barcelona did.
