Ronny, I live in Namibia and we have 80 % gravel roads. So I have a quick and simple temporary solution for the rocks bouncing on to your tailgate. (until you get the Rhino Hide). Make a tubing frame a bit wider than your tailgate. Wrap it around with some shade net. This frame just snaps into a bracket that mounts to your towbar. Let me know I can send you a photo of such a sample. Great video

I like the new fittings for the armor. However, I think it still needs to be cleaned on the backside if you want to keep it from scratching the original paint. Dirt, dust and water gets in just about anywhere, and I don´t see how this is any different. Nice tips about the easy access necessities and the towing/winching parts. When you´re bogged in, you might think more about getting your ass on the road again than safety. This is always good to think through beforehand.
@rhinohide4x43 жыл бұрын
There is a 5mm air gap between the panel and paint, so there’s no rubbing between the surface of the Armor and the paintwork itself.

I think youll find that the issue with all decals magnetic is they not only attract dust and debris, they will chatter. i would recomend a 3M clear coat protectant before fitting those panels as there is definately a problem with scuffing paint.
@rhinohide4x43 жыл бұрын
Hey Steve, please note that this is not a magnetic system, so attracts no dust/debris. These also are road-rated for 130km/h with no 'chatter'. There is also an air gap and patented panel suspension system so no scuffing will occur with Rhinohide. Here's a comparison page to help you better understand the system: www.rhinohide.com.au/pages/product-comparison

You put some paint protection film like 3m it's self healing and obviously removable. Best part is the cost is cheaper than anything else especially if you're able to apply it yourself. BTW they sell pre-cut kits in various thicknesses. I've used it for hoods fenders and mirrors/headlights works great.

They won’t protect from impacts however but scratches they will
@rhinohide4x43 жыл бұрын
Hey Jason, the primary downfall of any film system is the complete lack of dent protection, plus the ability to rip/tear down to the paintwork from larger brush and sticks. This is where the Rhinohide Armor system is in a league of its own. Our Armor-Lock suspension technology, is proven to protect from Carparks to the Countryside! Wait for our upcoming videos to see a demonstration.

I’d like to touch on the topic of the winch blankets, your fuse shackle and safety. Have you ever considered attaching a second line to both vehicles which “catches” the tow strap if it fails at the shackle? I’m talking about 500lb paracord, which should catch catch the projectile but will then snap immediately if the towing vehicle moves and puts load on it.

If the dust and sand will get between the armor plate and door itself? If there will be a water and freeze? I believe armor film is much better protection. In Russia we use film and different coatings like line-x.
@rhinohide4x43 жыл бұрын
Hey Dimtry, there is a clear gap between the panel and the door, with the only contact points at the Amor-Locks themselves. Worth noting that the Armor-Locks are both water and salt resistant. The ABS plastic is also rated from -30 to +90 degrees Celsius. The challenge for anyone with film is tears through to paintwork and dents. The Rhinohide is built to withstand both of these.

Another great clip Ronny. Bought the rhino hide for my hilux after watching this. Due to covid there were a few months of delays getting it but stoked to have it now. Can you post some pics of the snorkel front 1/4 panel? The armour as supplied does not have a cutout for the snorkel sadly and there are no clear instructions on the rhino hide website on how to cut it out or apply new tabs. "Cut it out with shop scissors" sounds a bit bodgy and crude and both the local bodyshops I've been to suggested I don't do that.
