G'day Ronny. Refreshing to see the evolution of just one vehicle and your process and explanations behind each evolution. One thing you have been very proactive with is addressing weight. I would expect with this new tray and all the weight well forward and down low, the angles you can now tackle (with confidence), particularly side slopes, are noticeably steeper than previous builds would have handled. Wheels... Have been a fan of alloy wheels for years, but a number of bad experiences with losing alloy wheels by myself and several friends, has returned me and friends to using steel wheels too. One thing about steel wheels, required wheel nut torques are always higher, and while it may only be an extra 10-15 ft/lbs, this is a significant gain in clamping force of a wheel onto an axle. On a more social note, enjoyed meeting you recently at the Perth 4wd show, and enjoyed ribbing my mate Shane with "no useful encouragement at all" when he had a crack at your tyre plugging challenge (despite chewing on the plug, for lubrication to save time, he pushed it all the way through and had to start again!!!).

After so many kilometers and adventures, you have a binding to that truck. Reasonably its just a thing, but emotionally its more than that. So repairing and improving, trying different things is the way to go. Keep it going that way 👍🏼

totally agree, had my Hilux 10 years, haven't changed much, more just replacing worn out parts, mainly driveline, clutch and suspension, the engine is a rock. learned so much doing it myself and saved a tonne of money, to change vehicle would make no sense.

Here's one for you. Box trailers generally come with a cage. Ute trays? Never. Whats going on in the industry. There is zero worth in not having a cage up to roof height. 300mm side are only good if you are hauling gravel. No cage if you are running a canopy. Cages should be a thing and standard accross the industry. Trust me after having them i would never complian about having to jump over or open doors. They look tough too. Imagine all these sheet alloy try guys start making cages. Something to dream about.

Great video once again! Been seeing the changes all those years from full blown canopy with the disco lights, to 1/2 canopy with the secret axe placement sparkling water maker and now no canopy. I supposed it depends on how your trips are eg getting shorter and you also got the PC trailer for long trips. Was wondering how much rear winch will be used. Thanks for the info Ronny. The Sleipnir has put up well from all the adventures in went through..

So one thing that I have noticed with people from Australia is nobody is building full cages on their 4 x 4‘s. You’ll spend 20 or $30,000 in camping gear and other accessories on a rig that cost over $50,000 to start with but you don’t build cages of some sort and only resort to aftermarket protection parts. Why is that. Doesn’t anybody in Australia know how to weld. Not trying to be rude I’m just curious because I’ve been watching videos in Australia for many years and 99.999% you never see anyone with a cage to protect their rig. If you look at a lot of rigs in the states will take any old crappy beat up Toyota Ford ranger jeep Cherokee etc. and put a cage on it so that when we do take it out on the trails it doesn’t get bashed and you can keep it relatively nice for a long time. Just some thing that I’ve noticed so my question is why don’t more People have cages on the rigs

They are not a pain in the arse to fit! I have been running the Staun version for many years. The Staun's valve stems go 180 degrees apart though. Strange on that brand. I will have to check them out as Staun no longer make theirs. OH look you went back to steel wheels, amazing! Its so funny. I alot of people argue with me about steel wheels. I have been offroading for about 31 years now and i learnt my lesson about aftermarket alloys a long time ago. Now i run only steel and NEVER have a problem.
