I own a stock (for now) US spec gasoline LC250 just shy of 20k km on mine in 3 months of ownership. It's handled beautifully both on and off road. The cameras don't entirely replace a spotter but they sure make you get out far less when you're alone. Gas consumption has been good but the tank is still small IMO. It's been very sure footed and easy to take on level 6 roads (Onyx off-road scale). I saved money for much needed aftermarket underbody protection by skipping the first edition wait listed mark-up. Just waiting on the aftermarket to catch up with mods so I can start kitting it out.

Loving your videos here in the U.S. of putting your 250 to the test, @Ronny_Dahl! I spent 9 years in a 4Runner and have been telling people how much better the 250 is offroad in comparison, and your video shows exactly why: it keeps tires on the ground when many other vehicles start lurching. I really hope you install the OEM sliders and FE-style steel skid plates on your vehicle, and see what they can take (lots of people are complaining about them being inadequate). I went with 285/70r18 to get it off the ground a bit without having to mod the wheel wells in any way, and am personally not planning on lifting so as to retain the stock suspension articulation. Don't care so much how it 'looks', and I better not care so much how the gas 2.4 sounds, lol... Cheers to you and your crew for a great, enlightening video!

Great video. Looking like this LC achieved its goal - it’s the best on-road while still being able to do everything (and more) than I need for off-road from stock, given I take care on lines. The moment you are referring to is where it had a little hiccup and took a moment to slow the wheel down. On all the other wheel lifts it just worked so good that it looked like the car has a front locker. Come on man, I know all you people are "bleh new tech, I don't like it" But in this comment section, and even in the one under the last video, there were people owners who guaranteed that it still uses the traction control with the lockers engaged. @Harry_Gersack4 күн бұрын
@10:12 there was still some kind of crawl or traction control on. You can see it on multiples spots, where a lifted frontwheel normally would spin freely, this doesn't. At one point you can even see it spinning a little bit faster and then the brake slows the wheel down mid-air. Btw the crawl control in general looked absolutely top notch. I think this might be the best out there. I think the LandRover Discovery 3 (?) also had a really good system, especially for its time. But man what the Prado just did there was absolutely amazing, it almost looked like a vehicle with front, rear and center locking diffs. I'm blown away 😮

If you have the rear locked and MTS selected. The front will still regulate wheelspin and apply brake to transfer power.
@Harry_Gersack4 күн бұрын
I saw it too. When he was comparing crawl control and "only lockers", you could clearly see how the crawl control apllied brake to slow down the wheels that were in the air. If it hadn't done that, the ride up that hill wouldn't have been that smooth. I hope he sees this, from my experience he's a bit blind for criticism, even though I always keep it factual and friendly
@ascentoffroad3 күн бұрын
@harry_gersack Yeah I have a 3G Tacoma with MTS and a 5G 4Runner with ATRAC(basically the same thing.). In the beginning I didn’t realize I had to select MTS while the rear was locked to get the MTS function on the front end. It basically applies the Crawl control traction control aspect without the automatic throttle input. It works super good. I still ended up putting an ARB air locker in the front of the Taco. No substitute for a real locker.

Where is the front sway bar on these Ronny? The KDSS on my 150 VX Prado gives noticeably better flex than those without. Being on a track alongside a mate's FJ Cruiser, the VX has 4 wheels on the ground a lot more often than the FJ.. Where the VX loses out though is the sway bar is forward of the front axle and so my bash plate is always clipping the tops off of sand on the beach or dunes, it collects pebbles and dirt really easily and is full of holes from smacking rocks on the more technical stuff. Just wondering what the 250 is like with the sway bar disconnect and if it's still in front of the front axle, if it's lifted higher and out of the way etc?

I think crawl control is no different to the other driving aids, its there to get you out of trouble like ABS and traction control but if you purely depend on it without learning how to drive the car properly one day it will fail on you and you cant get yourself out e.g. imagine if an ABS sensor or wheel speed sensor gets damaged due to mud or salt then the whole system wont work.
